Herman's staff?

I'm hearing rumblings about Tim Brewster as well. And absolutely not on Apple white . If I'm not mistaken I think he still has a lawsuit pending against him at Texas

Looks like Mark Helfrich is going to get fired at Oregon. Wouldn't mind having a guy like that on the offensive side of things.

There is some noise that UH Director of Recruiting Derek Chang may be joining Herman's staff in Austin.

Would love to have some feedback from Roach, Seahorn and Bazer on this. Have y'all heard anything?

Yes please. I'd love to hear more on this.

Aranda has 2 years left on Lsu contract at $1.3 million not sure if he could get out and he has only been at Lsu for 1 year so his Louisiana recruiting ties aren`t that long, he would be a home run hire though.

Oscar Giles was with Herman at UH maybe he can return.

Applewhite will not be an option not with Bev Kearney lawsuit.

Traylor needs to stay give him whatever title he needs to make it happen.

the only other coach I could see staying from Strong`s staff is Anthony Johnson

Brewster return would be awesome.

******** Aranda was also the roommate of Tom Herman in college at California Lutheran.

In 2012, Aranda was the Defensive Coordinator for one year for or the Utah State Aggies under Gary Andersen.

That same year Aranda was a nominee for the Broyles Award as the Aggies defense finished in the top 15 of all FBS schools in all four major defensive categories; seventh in scoring defense (15.4 points per game), 13th in rushing defense (113.8 yards per game), eighth in pass-efficiency defense (14 interceptions, 12 touchdowns, 54.1% completion rate, 5.7 yards per attempt) and 14th in total defense (322.1 ypg).

When Gary Andersen was hired as the new Wisconsin Badgers head coach, following the 2012 football season, Aranda followed him to Wisconsin. Aranda turned down offers from Texas Tech and California.[5] Aranda changed the Badgers' base defense from a 4–3 to a 3–4 and developed a more aggressive defense, putting pressure on the quarterback.[4]His first year as Defensive Coordinator the Badgers defense ranked in the top 20 in all four major defensive categories; scoring defense (6th), total defense (7th), rushing defense (5th) and passing defense (17th).

Two of Aranda's three years at Wisconsin one of his linebackers won the Big Ten Linebacker of the Year, Chris Borland in 2013 and Joe Schobert in 2015. Borland also won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. Aranda alongside his OLB coach Tim Tibesar were named Linebacker Coaches of the Year for 2015 by FootballScoop.[12]Over Aranda's three year span as defensive coordinator at Wisconsin his defense ranked first nationally in total defense, second in scoring defense, third in pass defense and fourth in run defense.[13]His final season with the Badgers his defense came in first in scoring defense, allowing just 13.1 points per game.

I'd be pleased if Herman was able to recruit Duane Akina back from Stanford to renew DBU. Heard he was very disappointed Charlie Strong didn't retain him.

Texas' defensive struggles might have been lessened had Duane been here rather than the secondary coaching revolving door that Charlie Strong installed.

Akina was always one of my favorite UT coaches, FWIW.

What about the Cumbie/Meachum combo if no Applewhite? Also, I agree with Embry regarding Gilbert being coached up by Herman. I think Herman should do what he can to keep Mattox..

I think Herman has an OL coach that is very much in sync with his offensive philosophy. He's actually done a really good job with the OL at Houston with inferior talent with just some duct tape and gorillla glue.

Isn't Herman already bringing his OL coach from UH as reported? Doesn't look good for Mattox. Also, don't you think that the combo of Mattix and Gilbert might have to break up at some point for the sake of their individual careers? Seems like they will have to go it alone at some point.
