Hermann needs to go

there are two teams that could muck up the whole UM to UT deal....that is the USC Trojan job becoming available or the Michigan job becoming available, either or not could inflate the market price, and Texas has to make sure that they aren't bidding against themselves and getting played by UM 's agent the way that Jimmy Sexton played them with Saban, I would think CDC is much smarter than his predecessors
I dont know this for a fact but supposedly there are only three programs that UM could consider leaving his cushy lifestyle for: Texas, Notre Dame and USC.  ND has a coach and in the CFP hunt so they are out of contention.  USC is mucking it up by doing well in a piss-poor PAC12 this year... so they wont have a vacancy.  I dont think Mich would be a consideration for him even if the job opened up. Mich prestige isnt what it use to be.

I think the USC job will open because Helton is in the same spot Herman is in, win or else. USC has squeaked out two wins early and thank goodness for them ND isn't on the schedule this year, and UCLA just may beat them finally which is like OU beating TX, it doesnt set well with the boosters. The only reason I mentioned Michigan is because Harbaugh came back as the prodigal son and fallen flat on his face and they have the resources to get their man, the Penn State job may come open too, and UM coming back to the Big 10 to beat OSU would be a real in your face type of move

I would venture that all the communication at this time has been thru intermediaries so each side can claim mea culpa should the deal not go down, if either side breaks the silence then CDC will be forced to make a move

Nope. If Urban is going to coach again it will be at Texas.

I've got a buddy who is a high-up in a big time Dallas firm. Alum, season ticket holder, kids go to Texas, pals around with some big money--the whole deal. Very connected. He says he has no idea what's going on.

Full Disclosure - I stole that off another site. Just too good to pass up posting it.

Yeah my dealer says the word on the street is that no one knows. Oh.

Disagree... prior to Stoops they were on a pretty bad hiring streak since Switzer (mid-80s). Since then only two coaches, one handed the keys to the car from Stoops.

Riley has done really well so far, but I'll be interested in seeing how he does when it's fully his own team.
Didn't Riley start the same time Herman did?

Face reality UM isn't leaving Fox Sports for anything less than Saban money, he has the titles already , at two different schools, three if you count Utah, he has nothing to prove to anyone. He can make easy money working half the year at Fox without the headache and stress of CFB 24/7 365..

A lot of you (and me too) had better get used to the idea that TH gets one more year, its the CoVid19 excuse that this year is a mulligan, an anomaly, and Texas can be tightwads when it comes to paying out money owed, every coach they have fired gets reassigned within the University system while they pay off his salary, they did it with McWilliams, Mackovic, and Mack Brown...I think Strong took a payoff so he could take the UCF job..and if they dont land UM there is no other coach currently out there that will bring a NC resume to the Forty Acres, any replacement could be the next TH 2.0
Herman is done.  Mark it down.

UM, our offer is $9 MM per year + incentives and fringe benefits. You have until Friday, 12/4, to make a decision. Hell, Saban is making $9.3 MM according to the article below!

https://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/
The only way $9 mill is accurate is if the current incentive is for $3 mill per year for taking the position. He declined $10 Mill a year and is considering $12 Mill. I sense the two sides are negotiating a few other things on UM’s “list of demands” and we will end up with 4 or 5 staff that he insists on bringing in and the current staff can interview for a position if they choose. Ash will be the DC for certain. When the contract is signed (Within 5 days after the Kansas game) UM will get $12-$13 mill a year in salary plus benefits. Chris Ash will coach the Bowl Game and TH will be unemployed with a nice chunk of change to get by on.

I'm holding you to this @RickyFlair

Things I've been hearing, plus several more details in that post.

I have heard that UM has until Saturday or Sunday (can't remember which) to agree to terms.

I think one year after... with Stoops stepping down the following Spring.

I could check, but I'm too busy hitting F5 on keyboard waiting for UM news.
I think they started the same year because I remember everyone making fun of Stoops for not wanting to face Herman at the time. What a joke that is today.
