So, we strike out on our top HC choices, yet we are to believe that we will get top coordinators?

Exactly. I had a positive attitude on the coaching hire until CS was confirmed by everyone in the past hour. So how do people think we get turned down by all our top HC choices but we're somehow going to kill it with the coordinator positions? You are all blinded with your burnt orange colored glasses.

Thanks to McPhaul and staff for all of the hard work. I still don't get all of the negative post regarding Charlie Strong. I feel given the resources at Texas and a blank check book to hire a top notch staff he will be a great hire. He isn't the splash name everyone is looking for, but I still feel that wasn't a necessity at Texas. I really hope the fan base can put aside all of these negative comments and get behind the new coach.

I'm with you Alouha27, it's been so daunting over the past 4 years. Feel like a kick in the stomach not to mention all the text messages coming across laughing at us. "Really" all this and Strong is your hire...

Redemption can be so rewarding.... last I checked other coached were not the 1st choice and became champions... so relax and enjoy the show.

I'm okay with this. Although I was hoping for Saban, part of me was always concerned with a splash hire where there were "skins on the wall." A lot of expectations go along with that. We need to rebuild a solid program and I think Strong, with the right OC, will do great. Ed O. wants to be a head coach, so if he comes as DC, expect Strong to be calling the shots. Ed will kill with the DL and recruiting in accordance with his strengths.

Strong may not be the biggest name today, but he could be soon. I am optimistic as can be and am going for another beer to prove it!

Posts like this crack me up. How did a HC punk UT just because they didn't want to coach here. Disappointing (although Fisher was the only one I thought was a chance) but saying they punked UT is off base IMO.

You guys expecting the oc and dc coordinator hires to solve any potential deficiencies of Strong are kidding yourself. Mack didn't change and improve with Harsin and even if he did, Bryan didn't stick around for very long after his hire. Coordinators are short term fixes. HC is what determines the direction of the program. Judge the hire on Strong alone, not on Strong plus a coach who could only be here for one year. How many coordinators have been at OU for Stoops or Texas for Mack? Strong is not a sure thing, but I hope he can bring an excitement and accountability which leads to a virtuous cycle of wins leading to recruiting momentum and even more wins. Hook 'em!

The programs that paid the raises were punked by Sexton, particularly if it's accurate that those coaches weren't leaving.
