Heard is a nice prospect

How would we know what Swoopes can or cannot do? He's been given zero real chance to do anything.
He was given a few chances (not many and not nearly enough) but he looked terrible the few times I saw him.

yall are looking at this with burnt orange glasses. i havent seen the whole game but he is not ready to play college football. he has to shirt.
Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the new Coach, his system and what our other alternatives are. It also depends on what he does in the off season and how much homework he does before the summer workouts begin.

Some kids with a fragile ego need to redshirt even if they're the best option. Some kids will progress enough during their Freshman year to justify pulling the shirt. It will take an astute new HC to know the difference.

I thought Gilbert needed a redshirt year and another to understudy a good QB to ever be a decent D1 QB. There are plenty of examples of freshmen that come in mature enough to handle the pressure. It's just harder due to more pressure at UT. But not impossible.

Ash has proven time and time again he throws bad interceptions, he isn't the answer next year at all. The next coach will go with swoopes or heard depending on system. I see ash transferring somewhere else after spring.

Your assuming Ash ever plays again. I've been told by to many people close to the situation it is very unlikely he plays again.

If he's smart, his football days are behind him.

That's very true. With all that is out on concussions, it is not something to take lightly.

He's better than anything we have on campus

Yea, I've been telling everyone he would probably start as a frosh next year, if we're playing the best we have.

What the F@#K with all the Swoopes dissing? The kid has never gotten a chance, and one more thing. Heard is not that solid to UT. He said he is still committed, but added, for now? Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Ash is at best a lower mid-level D-1 qb. Swoopes...quien sabe. Heard was #4 in the Elite 11, fast, quick, strong armed, and most importantly, he is a leader. Leadership at this position has been lacking since Colt graduated.

What I liked about Heard was he was in control all game. Passing/running..never flustered..He needs to redshirt
