From Day 1 I have said Watson is a decent position coach but has no business running an offense for a P5 program. Not all of us have forgotten the the TCU and Arky games. I'm certainly no Bielema fan, but I understand why he is still laughing at how easy it was to humiliate Shawn Watson's offense and personally, I am sick and tired of different facets of the UT program being laughed at by the national sports media ever week.

We will see if Shawn Watson is still running the UT offense in 2018 when Ehrlinger sees his first action.

As for this season, I hold out no hope that Watson can out strategize Brian Kelley. If Watson can find a way to score points against Cal, then maybe the Vegas over/under of 6 wins for UT might be at risk.

If UT does only win 6 games this year, there is no way in hell Coach Strong can keep Watson as OC. The Ehrlinger commitment, while no great surprise, is encouraging. A number of things that are happening are encouraging, for a change. I'm especially encouraged at how UT seems to be finally recruiting TEs. Let's get through 2015 before we start crowing about what a great QB we are going to have in 2018. Memories of Garrett Gilbert are still too fresh for some of us.

Yes, let's at least get through the first half of the first game of the season before we take shelter in the nuclear fallout room; then we can declare the end of the world is imminent.

• The presence of Coach Wickline
• The fact that they had 7 months to install a new offense
• The fact that, as talent and depth go, Mack left the cupboards bare
• Offensive line inexperience due to injuries, suspensions and dismissals
• Losing David Ash for the season after North Texas
• Lack of depth/experience at QB and having to start Tyrone Swoopes who was limited to 13 snaps in 2013 by Coach Brown

Sam Ehlinger is a longhorn fan in the Mack Brown mold of recruits. He would come to Texas no matter who was OC..... ( if he actually signs with Texas when its all said and done ). Like the kid from Arizona ( ? ) who was committed for nearly a year or so ending up at Michigan. 

Watson will prove his worth this season....But if he fails it will be the old ,"He only had 6 months with yet another NEW offense !!!" 

hmmmm...I wonder how high school coaches do it with only 2 weeks of two a days to install a new offense ? or just three weeks of Spring ball and a week of two a days??....No I don't, because I know how they do it. It isn't rocket science. You put it in, you teach the kids, you put them i na position to win, and they go out and execute. If a kid can't cut the mustard you bench him and put in someone who can ( if you have anyone ).....Its a shame at Texas if we don't have anyone who can execute an offense after 6-7 months.....

We are THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS...We shouldn't struggle and look inept against anyone. We may not win, but never should we be embarrassed like we were in the Texas Bowl.

Your aggie logic is baffling. Your first statement says he committed to Texas because he loves the school not Watson. Then the next sentence you have him probably going somewhere else. The recruit that ended up at Michigan was Zack Gentry. Gentry is from New Mexico not Arizona. It must be hard to keep up with Texas recruits when your also following aggie recruits.

So now your a psychic. If Watson fails with the offense, you can already predict the future on what Charlie Strong is going to do and say. Either you have a special talent or you just praised Watson at the beginning to give you cover when you then type your negative bullshit! How very aggie of you.
