Greatness!!

Mack Brown made two HUGE mistakes that took him down. First mistake was abandoning the offense dependent upon a strong dual-thread QB. Second, hiring Manny Diaz (and not firing him).

All the talk about complacency and softness and "Mack did this" and "Mack did that" is just total bull sh**. If Mack had put a great dual threat QB on this Texas team 3 years ago and never hired Manny, he'd still have a job today. The extent of Mack's failures have been grossly exaggerated. Charlie Strong has a well furnished cupboard...with the exception of that big QB question.

I don't expect greatness until we get a QB ready to carry this team on his back when the need arises. Assuming David Ash is going to be a strict drop back passer, with VERY little threat to tuck and run, he's not going to be that guy...no matter what Jordan Shipley says. Since it's probably going to be about 3 years before we can get our QB problem fully solved, I suppose I agree with posters that say 3 years, but perhaps for a different reason.

We could actually win the Big 12 this coming year. To me it all comes down to the qb position and the offensive line. We have enough talent on defense to be pretty good but we have to find a qb who can throw the ball. If Ash comes back and his concussion issues are resolved then he could be that guy. Maybe Brewer from Tech. We have issues at the tackle spot on the offensive line. We really need Estelle to make it back. After this season we lose a lot though. Especially on defense. We will be losing Reed, Diggs, Edmund, possibly Brown, and a few others. We will also lose Brown and Bergeron on offense along with Shipley. If coach can recruit some difference makers it won't take that long. The current class isn't bad at all but the 2015 class needs to be one of the best in the nation.

I have a feeling that our players are about to be introduced to a training regiment that some of them have not seen since high school. MB turned allowed this team to play soft and it showed up in our play. How well we remember those games that OU just beat us up like it was a school yard fight on national TV game.

If you ask our players I think most will tell you they did not like playing so soft and that is not what how the game of football is played. When CS and his staff start to teach the players all over again how the game is meant to be played we might lose some kids. MB tried to be a father to the kids and that is ok but along the way he forgot how football was meant to be played. My friends y'all have a good week.
