Married, small kid, another kid on the way - its a lot to consider when thinking about making a move.  TCU was comfortable.  Low-risk.  He's probably got a job at TCU as long as Patterson is there - and Patterson isn't going anywhere any time soon.

I imagine TCU gave Cumbie a pretty substantial raise and a promise that when Meachem leaves next year Cumbie will be promoted to the sole OC.
