Sam Houston (7-17, 1-2 CUSA) at No. 7 Texas (19-3, 5-1 SEC)

Projected Starters
Tuesday, March 25 – 6:30 p.m. | SEC Network+
SHSU:
RHP Danny Valadez (2-1, 5.12 ERA, 22.2 IP, 15 K, 12 BB)
TEXAS: LHP Kade Bing (0-0, 3.77 ERA, 14.1 IP, 8 K, 3 BB)

HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston Bearkats will go in search of a ranked win on Tuesday when they travel to Austin to take on No. 7 Texas in midweek action at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

The Kats' trek to Austin will be streamed on SEC Network+ and can be followed via Statbroadcast or on social media by following @BearkatsBSB on X and Instagram.

Sam Houston added three wins to its season total last week, taking two from Houston and one from Louisiana Tech in the Conference USA opener; but the Kats will get a stiff challenge from the Longhorns who have surged up the national rankings after getting off to a 19-3 start in head coach Jim Schlossnagle's first season at the helm.

The Horns have won five of six games in SEC play, taking two of three from LSU over the weekend in Austin. Sam Houston will be looking to snap an 11-game skid to Texas which dates back to 2015 and get its first non-conference true road win over a ranked opponent since 2017.

The Kats hand the ball to Danny Valadez to open the night in what will be his first start as a Bearkat. He leads SHSU with a dozen appearances out of the pen and has a pair of saves along with two wins, each coming vs Houston last week.

The midweek will serve as the first of four straight road games on the slate for the week for the Kats as they will follow Tuesday's game in Austin with a 3-game set at WKU beginning Friday night in Bowling Green, Ky.

Bottom of the 1st. Beyleu gets a 1 out walk only to be thrown out trying to steal 2nd. Should've waited as Flores got a double. Galvan groundout to 3rd.

Thru 1 complete no score

Top of the 2nd, Sam Houston's 1st batter gets a single followed by a double. Runners on 2nd and 3rd. Bing gets a groundout to give up 1 run. Runner on 2nd moves up to 3rd. But runner thrown out at home on groundout to 2nd. Fielders choice. Runner than thrown out trying to steal 2nd.

Heading to the bottom of the 2nd with Sam Houston leading 1-0.

Just curious but does anyone else have audio issues with the SEC+ platform? The audio volume is very quite and will be muted occasionally for a few seconds. Anyone else experience this? It really makes me miss LHN for sure.

Galvan gets on with a single and scores on Schuessler single.

Thru 3 complete Texas leads 5-1. Weird Galvan's hit was thought to be an error on the shortstop.

Top of the 4th and Sam Houston gets 1 run back.

Heading to the bottom of the 4th. Texas leads 5-2.

Same problem here and when the graphics go up on a replay the sound blows me out of room. But I never had LHN don’t live in Texas.

Bottom of the 4th,
A 1 out walk to Stewart, who is replaced by J. Duplantier. Mendoza gets a RBI double and moves up to 3rd on the throw. Beyleu gets a RBI single.

Thru 4 complete Texas leads 7-2

Texas wins 13-3. They run rule Sam Houston in 7 innings. Texas scores in every inning except for the 1st.
3 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th and 1 in the bottom of the 7th. Sam Houston did add 1 run in the top of the 6th.

Texas at 20 wins. On to Missouri this weekend.
