*****GAME THREAD - TEXAS vs. OKLAHOMA STATE*****

What was the Mensa logic for the onside kick?
Hahahaha... basically, you have to stop them either way whether you kick it deep or not. So why not have a shot to get it back with 2 mins left and 3 time outs.

Also said the kick did not give us a chance and that needs to be worked on.

GUYS, we still get a shot at the CCG. Win that and no one will remember a 3 point loss to OSU. We still control our destiny. We still have an excellent recruiting class coming in. We still have young players. I said it earlier today and I'll say it again: THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT.

I can see his logic on that one as well.  1:47 left and you have an opportunity to get the ball back with 3 timeouts in your pocket.  They didnt get the ball and didnt execute the kick properly.  Bottomline is they still had to get a stop..which they didnt.  I honestly think he didnt have great confidence in the defense stopping them even they did kick it deep.  I personally would've kicked it deep.  With that said, I'm sitting on a couch and he's coaching the team.

UT has won almost every game this season by the skin of its teeth.......even over crappy teams. Is that a resume for a high paid D coord? No!
We beat TCU and Kansas State handily. Also, this is year 2 under this system. We've played teams all year that have been in the exact same system for nearly a decade. If anyone went into this season expecting anything more than 9-3 they were fooling themselves. Herman is undoubtedly and unequivocally changing the culture at UT and it takes more than 1.5 seasons. On the bright side--aggy lost today so that's a good thing.

This.

As bummed as everyone seems to be, me included, we are still in a three-way TIE for FIRST PLACE in the conference. We have a head-to-head advantage over 1 of the 2 teams we're tied with.

Get our act together and we still control our own destiny.

Texas still controls their destiny in the conference. Stillwater is a weird place to play at night. My only bone to pick is with Todd Orlando's unit. That's now 6 out of 8 games that the opposing team has scored on the opening drive with ease. I know it's only year 2 in the system, but it's looking like Orlando benefited quite a bit from the experience that was on that side of the ball last season. There has to be better coaching adjustments. Atrocious half from that unit that ultimately cost Texas the game. They played well in the second half, but too little too late. That touchdown that Cornelius ran in to seal it is going to give me nightmares. That was such an obvious RPO situation, and Texas was not ready for it. Next week is huge.

12 games in a season. In the pros what counts is December. Get into the playoffs. Then that.

In college three months. Sept early games. Heat in half the country. Then October and set the table for a run. Then late Oct / early Nov for one or two crucial games. What was it, 3 Top 10 teams lost a week ago?

These night games late in the season at K-State, Okla State and Texas Tech -- add Iowa State too I guess --- have to become a circle on a calendar same as TCU and OU.

What's missing in Ok-State games is an attitude that you NEVER will lose to this bunch. If this game means nothing else it should make this program furious enough to put an A+ game on the field every year with the attitude of punking these guys. Not just win, but make them miserable losing. Cause Gundy just punked a #6 ranking and lofty potential finish. And Texas coaches and players did not take it seriously enough as evidenced on the field. They took the OU game serious. Took TCU serious.

I wrote down halftime stats. Give or take correctness. Off ESPN just as 2nd half was under wway.

OSU had 55 plays. 20:32 in possession. 382 total yards and 31 points. Receivers wide open with no one within 5 yards. Holes you could run a Ford 150 through. Horns dropped passes. And so on.

That's preparation and attitude. Show up like it's OU in Dallas. Do that and you are in good shape. Treat these teams with respect and make them suffer as well.

From their side they took advantage and won the day. I'm convinced football is more a mental game than physical. It's no different than close out a Grand Slam tennis title in the 5th set. Especially if you're ahead and supposed to win.

The only reward from tonight is win the next 4 and win the title game in Arlington. Play on New Year's somewhere. Next year aim higher.

I think we all got caught up in the hype of this team.  I was starting to believe they would make the playoffs, but deep down I knew they weren't ready to play the Bama's and Clemson's with years in a program and system.  At the beginning of the year I was hoping for for a 2 game improvement over last year and I think they're well on track for that.  Having a chance for the B12 championship is ahead of schedule in my book.  I think this loss will refocus them and we will see a hungry team against WVU.

Handily? You need to watch those 2 game films again, especially KSt. As for me, I have never said UT would or should go 9 and 3.  Take off your orange colored glasses and rewatch this seasons games. It has become a pattern of D breakdowns.

The score was alot closer then it should have been.  They missed 2 FG's.  I liked that Texas moved up into the top 10 but didnt believe we belonged there YET.  This loss is the on the Defense.  Sam looked tentative to me but still to give up 38 points and expect to win is unrealistic.
