*****GAME THREAD: Texas versus No. 6 Oklahoma*****

I've already heard "Mateer wasn't 100%". Ok, then maybe the final would've been 23-13....still a loss.

Him being cleared on Thursday , implies he only had 2 practices in the last 3 weeks.

To claim that without the broken hand ou would have won is silly. It's also silly to say with any certainty that Texas would have still won had he not had the injury.

What we do know is that the ou staff played Mateer because they believed that he gave them the best chance to win, and that they lost.

Injuries are a part of the game, and ideally you have enough depth to handle injuries without too much impact. To speculate about how this or any game would have gone, without injuries seems pointless to me.

I actually thought Mateer threw some darts, particularly the first half of the game. Didn’t really see the thumb effecting his throwing.

He seemed to throw the ball well enough in terms of velocity etc. It seems to me that him not being able to practice for most off the last 3 weeks likely impacted his accuracy and timing.

Honestly, I’d have to agree. He’s not been great back there, not even good. He had a perfect wall of blocking set up on the sideline. It was a good/great special teams play and it helped the refs missed Vasek’s block in the back to allow the score, but I’m not going to fuss about it. I would like to see a better athlete as return man, not just somebody with straight line speed. Moore maybe?!

Yeah, but the timiing of the tweet, just before he took it to the house and helped seal our win, is just hilarious.
