Game Thread: Texas Longhorns vs. Rice Owls

You might consider the possibility that as good of a leader and competitor Casey seems to be he has not started a game against good competition and he won’t until TCU and OU. Garbage time and Rice has created this legend. I hope I’m wrong but, I see an average and undersized QB with a bad offensive line. Glad to say I’m wrong but not until after the OU game.
I think you're reaching, using a technicality tell you something it doesn't say.

The bowl win over Colorado wasn't garbage time. As for Rice, it's the team we had to play that week. Not sure how you fault him for doing what he was supposed to do.

I don't think we're talking about a legend. We're just talking about the starting QB position at Texas. I think Thompson may be the better fit for an offense that has an OL like this one. He certainly improvises well and can hurt teams with his feet as much as with his arm. He has led this offense to scores 16 out of 18 times he's started a drive. That's hardly "average."

Its going to be hard for Card to "win" when he's playing backup.
I'm talking about winning with CT11 at QB. We don't need another loss, if things go bad, make changes before it's too late. Running backs included. A really short leash. Sorry if feeling's get hurt, just win baby.

58 pts. 8 touchdowns with extra points and a safety. And we didn’t score in the 4th quarter. We could have scored more but why.  At 58-0, passing would have dragged the game out and someone may have gotten hurt.  We are still playing for something.

sorry Bear19 this wasn’t responsive to your post.
That's weak sauce. Every snap matters, not mercy rule for me.

55 points is what happened. Or were you even watching?
Keeping the ball mostly out of CT11's hands is what happened once we got well ahead. 51 points in the 1st half and 7 in the 2nd. Were you even watching. Tapping the brakes again.

Last year doesn't matter. Card wasn't in the rotation, Sam was. You and I could have made those handoff's in the Rice game.

Well, yeah, last year always matters. When you have a last year, then you have a track record to analyze.

No, you and I couldn't have made those hand-offs, or those runs, or those passes that Thompson made. You and I wouldn't have got up from being hit on that INT play.

Oh, so we're trying not to score in garbage time now?

lol.

You execute your offense. Its on the defense to stop it.
It was obvious that we shut it down in the 2nd half. 3 passes, 4th string freshman on the field, burning up the clock.

It's not hard, we showed mercy, and every snap didn't matter, we just went through the motions.
You do realize that you're arguing with yourself? Those were YOUR words, not mine.

I'll just back out at this time and let you continue this with yourself. lol

You are having trouble following the concept that we shut it down after the half. Enough about Rice, let's Hook 'Em tomorrow against those dirty guns up Raider's!

Your continued references to Sarkisian's sales pitch and snarky comments about Thompson leads me to believe you're not happy with Card's demotion. At this point in the season it is almost impossible for Card to take back the QB1 position without an injury or total meltdown by Thompson. It's best just to ride it out and try to enjoy the rest of the season. The revenge tour starts next weekend. Hook'em

I'm not convinced this QB battle is over, he keeps insisting he will play them both. We may get to see if we have a passing game tomorrow? I just don't think CT11 can get that part of the game done more than adequately. I don't want to find that out at the Red River Shootout.

Sark said in his Monday press conference that it would be harder to get Card playing time now that conference play had started. It was almost at the end of the PC.

You didn’t watch the game. We scored 44 in the first half 14 in the second.
I think you just say things to get a reaction. I’m not going to react anymore.

Did you happen to see the hits Card got in the first half of Arky game, including after the whistle? You’re a Casey homer and you’ll see after the OU game he ain’t that good. Get your excuses ready.
