The Longhorns and Boilermakers will meet on the hardwood for the fifth time in school history on Saturday, with Shaka Smart’s Longhorns making their first appearance at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette. Texas will be the first Big 12 team to play at Mackey since 2004.  These teams met on neutral ground in the NCAA Tournament the first three encounters, and Texas defeated Purdue last season at the Frank Erwin Center during the regular season.

Texas is coming off a season-opening 69-45 win over Northern Colorado, while the Boilermakers won their opener at home over Green Bay, 79-57.

Redshirt sophmore guard Andrew Jones scored a career-high 20 points last week against the Bears and sophmore Courtney Ramey added a double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds) in the win.  Texas held Northern Colorado to 45 points on 27.3% field goal shooting.

Purdue owns an 18-game home winning streak which is good for the 5th best in the country.  Senior guard Jahaad Proctor scored 26 points and 7’3″ center Matt Haarms had 7 blocked shots in the win over the Phoenix.

Purdue has been ranked in five straight AP preseason Top 25 polls, the longest streak in school history.

Wow, no love for the b-ball team tonight! This is a huge win for the Horns. While I admit not seeing much of it due to being at the football game, to beat an Indiana school in their main sport at home is a big deal!

What a great game! This team just may have a pulse.

Coleman was lights out with assists and shooting. And AJ was clutch down the stretch.

Texas’ defense was disruptive and there seemed to be a semblance of an offense.

...and this against a quality opponent in their house.

Hook ‘em!  \\m//

Gotta think the defensive coach hire from Michigan is paying off.
