The Texas Longhorns (7-1, 0-0 Big 12) will host the Rice Owls (6-2, 0-1 C-USA) at the Moody Center on Monday night.  Texas dropped their first game of the season last week, falling to #17 Illinois in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden.  The 'Horns bounced back with a 88-43 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday, as part of the Jimmy Blacklock Classic in Austin.  The game against the Owls comes as the second game for Texas in the Blacklock Classic at Moody Center, where Texas is undefeated on the season.

Sucking from the field. Sucking from the line. Defense sucking. Getting pounded on the boards.Losing most 50/50 balls.  Looks like a team that doesn't want to be here. Feel for them.

Team getting little momentum now. Going to be interesting to see how they finish tonight, I am sure mentally this is probably a hard game to play in light on todays news.

Who do they go to for the finish?  Carr is to out of control and Hunter seems hobbled

That's 3 times Galindo has mentioned Beard being arrested just in OT alone.

Just say good on these kids for battling through adversity.

Update: make that 4 times as he had to get one more in before going off the air.  How does he still have a job?

Well Texas played well in overtime, team responded to adversity and made the plays. Wish Lowell Galindo would stop talking about it and focus on the game

Good win considering the circumstances. It’s going to be tough moving forward but they have enough older leadership to overcome if any team can. I’ll be rooting even harder for them now.

And Galindo is a bleeping idiot. How has he worked for years and not gotten any better or any sense?

Galindo is just politically correct moron. No waiting on how things play out, he's guilty! Maybe he is, but we don't know that for certain right now.

I went to the game, had pretty good tickets close to the Texas bench outside the student area. Here's what I saw:

1) Refs were horrible, missed 5 calls in the 1st half alone that all went against Texas.

2) The FT shooting was terrible. They started hitting them late but we hit some early and the game wouldn't have gone into OT.

3) How many points did Rice score running the backdoor cut?

4) #15 for Rice gave the Texas players fits in the 1st half, we did better against him in the 2nd.

5) Brock is the man! Dude is not afraid to mix it up at all!

6) Carr had a good game overall minus a couple of TOs.

7) Rice, the player for Texas, had some very athletic moves around the basket. One in OT brought the crowd to their feet.

8 )  Speaking of the crowd, it felt like a wake at some points during the game. You could see it in the players too. Weird night overall.

9) After the game was over, several Texas players went to hug Coach Terry.

10) After the game in the line to shake hands, the Rice coach talked to every Texas player.  You could tell he was giving encouragement. Class move sir, class move.

11) My first time to the Moody Center. Great venue with plenty of leg room (I'm 6'1").

12) Did I mention the refs were horrible?

Luckily this team has veterans on it to help weather the storms coming.  Carr and Allen are good captains to help steady the ship.  As long as they play solid defense then this team will above avg.  I see three things that will hold them back when it comes to playing better teams:  consistent outside shooting; defensive rebounding and FTs.
