If I may… I believe it is that some were overly critical of Card.  Which is probably true.

Ewers looks much better that he did in Lubbock… but still misses badly on the long ball.  Is the smashed finger theory true?

Quinn ewers passing completion percentage the past two games is 46% … my main reason pointing that out is that y’all were too hard on Hudson Card during his time as a UT Quarterback because he was better than 46% passing completion percentage but got crucified 

As I've said before, stats alone are meaningless. My criticism with Card is that he holds the ball to long. He doesn't read the coverage but waits for a receiver to get open. He has gotten better but is still a bit slow. He could be great next year. Ewers on the other hand, reads the coverage and throws the ball where the receiver should be open. If the receiver doesn't make the same read on the defense, he could run a different route and bad throw or interception.

So here is a stat that JD doesn't consider:

Card 2-2 (this year), 3-3 career

Ewers 4-1

As I've said before, stats alone are meaningless. My criticism with Card is that he holds the ball to long. He doesn't read the coverage but waits for a receiver to get open. He has gotten better but is still a bit slow. He could be great next year. Ewers on the other hand, reads the coverage and throws the ball where the receiver should be open. If the receiver doesn't make the same read on the defense, he could run a different route and bad throw or interception.

So here is a stat that JD doesn't consider:

Card 2-2 (this year), 3-3 career

Ewers 4-1

Card as a starter is 2-1 (with a TT loss not on him)

Ewers as a starter is 4-2 (do we really count LaMon?)

Ewers best passes have turned out to be the ones where he and the receiver establish eye contact. Ewers did a great job not throwing int's (2 were dropped) and Sark closed up the playbook and admitted fearing for a turnover, the same thing that was used to downgrade Card. We have yet to see Ewers playing from behind, something Card has done well twice.

I don’t doubt Quinn is the right long term choice - I just wanted us to not criticize Hudson Card so badly because he received unfair criticism in the offseason as people talked about Quinn Ewers ability to complete the deep ball better. I just hope Hudson Card lands in a good next situation

and Sark + coaching staff need to get to work on DEVELOPING the players we have on campus, instead of looking to the transfer portal

UT had 3 points with Quinn vs Bama. If he get's hurt that's how it goes, he failed to finish and win the game. And yes, the Bama loss isn't on him, but he was the starter. 

Without Card's heroic's with 21 seconds and no timeouts, and Auburn, there is no OT for Bijan to fumble. 

I didn't start this Monday morning QB thing, but you know I'm going to engage in it. 

Saturday IMO we saw 2 teams lose because of their coache's unwillingness to make the necessary QB change, one benefitted UT with KSU going back to Martinez rather than the red hot Howard, and one at Clemson where the backup had just salvaged a game the previous week.

And because I was a baseball player, I assign wins and losses just like baseball. If a starting QB, leaves the game with the lead, and the reliever comes in and blows it, the loss is on the reliever. You can show it any way you want.

You play the games on your schedule. Doesn't matter who they are. Ewers is 4-1 and Card 3-3. Are you saying that App St over the aggies and Liberty over arkansas don't count? Because last I saw, their records show a win/loss because of those games.

IMO only Big 12 games should count in player evaluations, heck even then we pull some starters when we are ahead. There is no completely objective method using stats only. Qb's don't play defense etc. That's why completion % is the gold standard, it eliminates running plays, but admittedly still doesn't separate easy passes from hard ones. Neither QB here has proven to have command of the deep ball. That was supposed to be Quinn's thing, only it isn't. At this point Sark won't let any of his QB's change a play at the line of scrimmage, they are just following instructions and trying to make reads. It goes without saying that Sark has a strict no running policy which at times could make all the difference since no D respects it at all.

Sark is not about to settle for a game manager as his star QB. The decision for next year becomes much easier if we finish strong and contend for a title. Finish weak and there needs to be an open competition IMO.

Right now if you do a video of Worthy quitting on passes video, and a Quinn overthrow video, which do you think will be longer?
