As if it needed any additional hype, tonight's game between the Longhorns and the Red Raiders will likely include added security for the Texas players and head coach Chris Beard.  Beard, who is making his first trip back to Lubbock since leaving the Red Raiders for the Texas job, is the center of Tech fans' anger and rage (for some reason).  The Red Raiders appear to be doing just fine under new head coach Mark Adams.  They boast a 16-5 overall record and a 5-3 record in conference.

Beard served as head coach in Lubbock for for five years and was an assistant coach for the Red Raiders for 110 years.  He amassed a 112-55 record as head coach there and guided his teams to the Elite Eight in 2018 and the NCAA Championship Game in 2019.




The Longhorns are 16-5 overall and 5-3 in Big 12 play and bring a 3-game win streak into the contest.

Game tip is at 8:00 PM CST at United Supermarkets Arena and will be televised on ESPN2.

The stage may be too big for us tonight. We're in disarray. Five-min stretch where we settled down but we fell apart again.

Tceh may have surpassed aggy with their agginess. The refs suck, but they are likely in fear for their lives.

I'm not blaming the refs on this one. Most of the fouls have been inside and legit. We're just not capable of forcing the issue inside offensively. It's dribble into trouble, pass and put up ugly shots. And I'm envious of the home crowd.

Once more, the glaring lack of a true PG is killing us. The one thing you can’t do against this defense is have the ball stop in someone’s hands. Unfortunately, we’re great at dribbling the air out of the ball.

Honestly, the only player that showed up tonight for the entire first half was Courtney. He might drive you nuts from time to time, but at the end of day, he’s plain and simply a dog.

Neither  AJ or Febres have helped offensively.

Tech took Allen away from beating them. The bigs have to be better.

22 games into the season, still no clue offensively. Defense had some nice moments but broke down too many times.    6 losses, still have 2 to go against bailor, 2 against ku, still  have to go to wva, okie lite and kstate. We may not have our 1 and done in the tournament to discussion this year. Unless Beard can resurrect this team.

I'll probably get blasted for this but I had Texas winning this game at less than 5%. Watching the game with the wife, I told her we had a very little chance of winning this. This was Tech's super bowl this year. Look how they played in the first half compared to the second. I'm sure Beard will remind the team when Tech comes to Austin. As someone predicted in the basketball thread, Cunningham did foul out.

As far as Texas playing better, the majority of this team is playing together for the first time this year. Like most sports, the more you play with someone, the better you know their habits and vice versa. Live by the portal/die by the portal.

I still believe this team will make it to the NCAA tourney.
