***Game Thread: #21 Texas vs. #23 Louisiana***

Meanwhile, the Big 12 looking very mediocre as a conference today. Hopefully this is the final year in this crappy conference.

Can anybody confirm if Wiley played? Seems like we're completely blowing an opportunity to have another huge weapon on the field if he's just sitting on the sideline constantly behind Brewer. No disrespect to Cade, but feel like we're not utilizing Wiley enough.
This is year 3 with 2 different coaching staffs.  Brewer is the better tight end apparently.

Good game overall.  Exactly what you want. Did a lot of good things to build on, had some things to teach and cleanup and most importantly they got the win.

DL played sound football, but not dominating.  I know that sounds weird saying that when they had 6 sacks.  However, i thought they missed some gap assignments and didn't get a consistent push.  Lbs played well and accounted for 30 tackles.  That is awesome and what they're supposed to do.  DBs played soft at times, but that may have been by design.  Best thing i can say is that they didn't beat deep all day. A lot to be happy with and a lot to teach.

Offense was slow out of the gate, but picked it up in the 2nd half.  Both QBs looked poised and confident and made some off script plays. 0 turnovers from the QB position is always a good thing.  All 3 RBs were solid and Bijan did his thing.  Thought he could've done more if the blocking had been there. All receivers were solid.  I don't think I saw a single drop (could be wrong). Oline was pedestrian.  Did some good things but saw too many whiffed blocks and the holding calls were maddening.

STs was very good today minus the missed FG and block in the back on 1st PR.

Overall, good first game and win
Agree.  I think your OL comments may be a little understated.  OL is the glaring weakness IMO.  Both QBs are good at evading the rush, and that’s fortunate.  Bijan was running into a brick wall too many carries.

Hopefully Coach Flood can coach them upward.

Gentlemen, I am watching UCLA and LSU now. This makes the 4th game that I have seen since Thursday.  I was starved for college football with fans in the stands, as opposed to cardboard cutouts.

In comparison to most of these teams, we looked amazing. That doesn’t take into account the fact that we have a new offense, a new defense, and a new quarterback.

I don’t have enough superlatives to describe what I feel about that.

Penn State looked inept on offense. Wisconsin did not look great, either. Ohio State outlasted Minnesota, and now LSU. LSU is not impressive, and is now down to UCLA. UCLA looks pretty good, but I can’t tell if that’s because LSU looks so bad, or what.  I have never been a big Chip Kelly fan.

Then I read what SHA said about the OU game.  They had a tough time with Tulane!  Wow!

This just may be a really fun season

Hook ‘em!

all the early season rankings are based on a school's reputation....Ohio State is not the #4 team in the country, LSU is not the #16th best team in the country OU is not as good as whatever they were ranked...North Carolina was grossly over rated too

As a Mom, I am hoping both Brock’s are redshirting this year at Alabama. I haven’t looked.

With Luke starting here, particularly after waiting so long, that would be a tough situation. Analytically speaking, you could see them, but you want to be there.

If you aren’t going to be, what do you tell the one or ones you aren’t going to be there for?

If Tommy made the decision for his younger sons, I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes right now...at home.

Penn St. and Wisconsin both looked like Woody was coaching them. So far UCLA has been a suprise team.

OU except for second quarter Tulane hung with OU either Tulane has a very good offence or OU's defence sucks.

OL is the worst. If this is the best 5 we have, heaven help us once injuries hit. Not sure how much coaching them up can be done. Hopefully Sark can devise plays and schemes that don't require lengthy 1 on 1 battles.

Guess that's how 7-8 + years of so so OL recruiting and line coaching get you. Sighs..

Related to the game but off subject, for those that went I heard getting into the stadium sucked, i.e. long wait times. Anyone else experience that or not?
