*****GAME THREAD: #2 TEXAS vs. #7 CREIGHTON

They changed it up and started dropping guys down to help and that worked a little better. They shot terrible and we didn’t shoot much better but Beard’s teams play such good defense. Good win
3 turnovers was also huge. Creighton had 8. Offensive rebounds 9-8 Texas. So even though both teams shot similarly (and Creighton made more FTs), we had 8 more shots and that gives you the edge.

Hard fought win last night. The offense was definitely streaky, but the good guys played some solid defense to overcome those lulls during the game.

On a side note, took our toddler last night. She had a great time and was yelling Texas Fight on the concourse. Lol, I was proud dad. When she attends games, we’re 2-0. Her first game was Tennessee last year, so she shows up for the big games.

Done ?It’s gonna be a fun year.
UT 72-67

1st top 10 win at home since 2009!
I have you on block but saw this last night while checking on my phone which I don't log into HornSports with. Texas beat #2 Gonzaga at home earlier this year and #8 Kansas at home last year so your info is incorrect. Nice try aggy

Both teams missed some open 3s last night. This is probably more the norm for Texas compared to Creighton as they are a better shooting team - especially the Baylor Scheierman kid. They hit a few more of their shots and this is a tighter contest throughout (we hit a few more it would have been a wide margin throughout).

That said, we controlled the game throughout and if not for an incredible shooting performance in the last 4 minutes by Baylor the game would not have tightened up at the end. He was 0-10 shooting at that point and then made 4 shots - all pretty tough shots including a Steph Curry style deep 3 while defended. Texas responded well by hitting their free throws and protecting the ball nicely in the last minute. The in bounds to Timmy Allen was a questionable coaching call - even the broadcast called it out as he missed the front end of the 1 and 1. Next in bounds, Allen was the passer so perhaps a good adjustment by Beard.

We didn’t play close to our best game and beat the #7 team.   This team is legit!   Of course Creighton didn’t play their best game either.

Bravo men’s basketball team!

Bravo Coach Beard!

Bravo home court advantage!

I heard someone talking about this… I think the gist was it’s our first win at home against a top 10 team wile we are in the top 10.  Something like that.  Very bizarre and confusing stat…. I bet JD got it from that source.

Maybe but I'm very skeptical of him based on some of the things he has posted.

I saw the stat on the Texas Sports website(UT) game summary.  Obviously could have been posted elsewhere

Yes, I may have mis heard what the announcer said at the end? I think you might have it right.

Finally watched the replay last night. Dang, the team is looking really good for this point in the season. Playing with a great deal of confidence. If everyone can stay healthy, should be a great season.
