Game Thread: #12 Oklahoma State @ #25 Texas Longhorns

So we're 4-3. Im guessing every remaining game maybe even Kansas is a tossup? Wasn't 3 losses our ceiling for Sark?
I was hoping for 9-3, but I guess that makes me delusional with this roster.

It's looking like 7-5 and a Texas Bowl.....I hope

How can a team that looked so good the 1st Half in the last two games look so bad in the 2nd Half? How come Riley and Gundy can make halftime adjustments, but we can't? It's mind-boggling, not to mention embarrassing.

Defense balled out for much of this game, but were on the field way too long while the offense floundered. I don't blame PK for this one.
Staying in the two-high safety look there in the 4th while we were being gashed on the ground was on PK. It was inexplicable.

We say we got to let Sark recruit and it will get better.  My problem is Herman recruited 3-3-12 I think or close to that. The teams that we have trouble with don’t even recruit in the top 25 see TCU, Okla St, Iowa St.  Those teams are getting the maximum amount of what they have.  So yes I want him to recruit good but I’d like to be one of those teams that got the most out of what we have.  We haven’t done that in over 11 years.
I’m hoping Sark can take after Kirby’s playbook and recruit top 5 every year and just get consistently better until you’re a playoff teams.  Their are both out of the Saban tree so we’ll see.

The reason I ask even though overshown is one of my favs he gets burned a lot too.  I realize he was injured this game.  But it seems like this happens a lot.  The defense appears undisciplined to me
They played pretty well until they started getting tired

Either UT's recruits are highly overrated or we don't develop the talent we have.

Which is it?

I’m honestly not for sure what it would take to turn Texas around or if you can.  I doubt Saban could win here.  I guess it’s the culture…….I don’t know.  We have been watching this for over 11 years.
I’m with you.  There’s something rotten... I’m just not sure what it is... Whatever it is - I’m really sick of watching this dysfunctional garbage.

I lived through late Akers, McWilliams, Macovick.... But late Mack, Strong, Herman, early Sark is much much worse.  Akers, Macovick and McWilliams all won conference for goodness sakes.... and we thought that was just awful!!!

I'd rather have classes ranked outside the top 20 and have players who want to wear the Burnt Orange and work their ass off instead of this entitled culture bullshit we've been dealing with for the past decade. Give me the hungry players. Those type of players have been dominating us for years now.

So looking at the remaining games, are we lucky to finish 6-6?  I wasn't expecting conference championship this year, but I wasn't expecting this either.  IDK, It's hard to be a UT football fan.  Go Volleyball!!!

Just got home from the game and too daym tired to read this whole thread. So what did the TV people say about the hit on Casey that drew no flag but just earlier Texas got called for roughing the passer while he was throwing the ball? Live it looked like Casey had moved his arm more forward than the okie lite QB. On the sidelines, Sark had multiple "talks" with the ref about that play.

Fixing to go eat and get more beers, appreciate the answer(s) in advance.

Ash/Herman decided to use an extra defensive back and fewer linebackers. That made no sense to me in this league, although it’s not what you call them, it is how you deploy them.

We recruited to that philosophy. We are lucky we have Overshown and Brock. Outside of that we have youngsters and defensive backs.

Yes, I think the big guys were tired. Who did we have to substitute?

Oh yes I remember all those days.  I’m just not smart enough to figure out what it takes to win at Texas.  I’ve looked at every angle possible and I just can’t figure it out.  People laugh at me but I’ve said I don’t understand why you can do it at Alabama and you can’t do it at Texas.  We’re the state university with the most money in the best state in the country for high football.  I’ve said numerous times that nowadays Texas kids will go anywhere so it’s hard to keep them at home so you have to recruit nation wide.  Sark is doing that so maybe we have better days ahead.  We can only hope.

The TV people didn't even acknowledge that it looked very similar to the roughing foul called against Thornton. Ridiculous inconsistency. At least call it both ways, for crissakes!

Good to hear Sark got on the officials for that nonsense.

It was the exact same thing and no call for Thompson
