Heard is working out at quarterback - and is also catching some passes here and there.

Heard will definitely go into fall camp as a quarterback. If Shane Buechele is indeed the guy, Texas still needs a backup quarterback. But much like Trevone Boykin (who waited his turn behind Casey Pachall as a running back and receiver at TCU), Heard is willing to do whatever it takes to get on the field and appears to be hedging his bets by running some routes on the side.

Definitely still a quarterback for Texas heading into fall camp. But as one source said, "He'd make a hell of a slot (receiver), too."

My buddy was at a dinner event last night that Shaka and Charlie attended. Charlie told a couple of stories, but I liked hearing this one the most. A couple weeks ago, Charlie received a call from Shane at 10:30 on a Friday night.

SB: "Hey coach, where are you?"

CS: "Well, it's Friday night. Where do you think I am? I'm at home."

SB: "Do you think you could come open the door to the indoor facility for Collin and me? I want to throw."

CS: "Why don't you go over to the rec fields? They're lit."

SB: "We were there, but they just kicked us out and turned off the lights."

Charlie tried to find someone to let them in the indoor facility. Shane called back a little later and said never mind, him and Collin found a place.

Start him, Charlie!
