Friday morning gut check

Please hire John Harbaugh, Jimbo Fisher, or Gus Malzahn!

Saban is too old. He's on the decline, and it will take him 2 to 3 years to adjust to the BIG 12 . Then he's likely to retire just as Texas begins winning again and we'll be back to square one. I'd prefer the new coach not be over age 55.

I agree go get your man at all cost.... but if for some reason they do select Mora or Strong it must have been for a reason. Are you presuming to know more than Petterson and the committee? Im not. Im just saying that they obviously weighed the pros and cons and must agreed that some of those cons could be overcome. Are we supposed to that the question of recruiting was not discussed and plan will kot be evaluated before the hire is made.
talking about a plan in theory and executing are 2 different stories. i might know more, i might not. i am pretty sure i know more about coaching and THSA than a couple of people on the committee. not because i say so, but because i have coached, was recruited, and had kids recruited who went to big time programs and have sat in on those in home visits. not being an ass, but have you sat in on a home visit, do you know how those things go down?

It's not gonna be Briles, and I'm fine with that. Anybody who prefers Waco wouldn't be a good fit in Austin anyway. I'd love for it to be Fisher or John Harbaugh, but my reasonable side says Strong or Mora, and I'm okay with either. Neither is a home run, but both are solid head coaches, hire good assistants, and can recruit. Strong or Mora either one would be a big improvement over the Mack of the last half decade.

Harbaugh - would have been hired already, so he is out. (my #1 choice)

Saban - aint coming (people who say he is are Texas people looking through burnt orange tinted glasses)

Briles - confirms to being a Baylor Bear.

Fisher - Malzhan: maybe if either gets blown out, maybe they listen depending on push back from boosters 1%

Strong - would be a solid hire 20%

Mora Jr - I think Patterson really likes him (Pac12 connection), so I'll go with Mora Jr 79%

Franklin - 0%

My gut feeling unless I hear we are interviewing another candidate. I do think it's between Mora Jr. and Strong. Interestingly Strong is not on PSU's radar from what I have read granted that was from a few days ago.

Saw this elswhere....

I'm told Mora absolutely killed the interview and Strong is a favorite of Bill Powers.

Well if Saban says no this is what you might expect.

I guess they must be having press day for FSU-Auburn.

And, of course, someone had to ask Winston --
