I see a few people are curious about what is going to happen. I'll give you these little tidbits as a follow up.

1. There is no mystery to the fact that there will be only one AD, for all programs, in the near future. This has already been said and it is true - Plonsky will be given an option - stay in a subordinate position or leave..

2. Remind everyone that Patterson has a big basketball backgound, loves basketball, will address our BB program, big time, and has told all the wheels there is no reason for UT BB to not be on the same level as the big time nat'l programs. This is one of the things that impressed the search committee and why they selected him over Luck.

3. Barnes has been put on notice

4. Augie has been put on notice

5. Some non-functional bureaucrats have already been dismissed and Patterson is already building a list - which includes several BMD's moles - planted to keep an eye on the internal works of UT sports. You will be surprised who will be removed.

I'm curious as to what the "standard" is for these two. I completely understand Barnes but what is the bottom line as far as these two go? Sweet 16 for Barnes?

Augie was just in the CWS a few years ago so I would think he has the most rope on campus. Is he being held to a World series appearance or else?

Bill Little has had a long and fruitful career. I'm sure he'll go quietly.

I'm curious about the committee that was assembled to assist with the HC hire. Its the same group that handled the hire of Patterson as AD.

Moving forward, is this the start of a permanent group to help with major decisions and for damage control as a board of directors would act? As the scope of UT athletics continues to grown toward and than past the $200 million mark, I can see the need for a group of advisors to help the AD with various issues.

Any chance you can ask if this committee is actually a sort of BOD and the first of the structural changes we are going to see?

Music to my ears.

We could be a powerhouse with the right coach hire.

Definitely. We should be able to complete with likes of Ohio State and Florida as being one of the top premier football/basketball schools. I would love to get Sean Miller from Arizona as coach.

I hope Barnes saves his job. He is my favorite.
I admit this season has been much more fun than I imagined. Rick's teams play better with a quick, penetrating PG. They play hard, have some athleticism and have some length. But is one high 3P% shooter too much to ask?

Anyways, I guess we will have to see this season play out before we can draw any conclusions.

I actually trust Patterson more on making the right decision here than the football coach.

I don't see why they couldn't keep Barnes and add an offensive assistant to his staff. Of course it all depends on how this season plays out...

These are good questions. Regarding the committee, it would make sense that Patterson would appoint them as he is certainly familiar with them from his own interviews. What appears different to me is this committee won't ram their selection down Pattersons throat like what was done with Mack to Dodds.

I've watched a few of their games and my impression of this years team is they are FAST!

I don't agree with Augie being put on notice. He doesn't deserve that. I'm guessing after this season that tune will change.

That being said, he's probably in his last 1-3 years anyway.

I think the inability for the Big 3 coaches to reinvent themselves is what's being missed here. Yes they are all Great coaches and have done Great things but at the end of the day they have all became stagnant and for better or worse ( and lack of a better word ) they've failed to keep it fresh. So for that they all must be accountable and face the music

I like Barnes as well. And even though the team looks worlds better than we originally thought, I think the program is stale and needs a change. We still aren't landing top flight recruits from the state of Texas, even those top flight recruits who aren't 1 and done type players.

We could get almost any coach we wanted, provided they aren't already coaching at a basketball "blueblood" program.

Buzz, Shaka, and Marshall should be on the A list.

Grant, Boyle, Bennett on the B list

There MUST be calls made to Donovan, Hoiberg, Matta, and Ford just to gauge interest.

Put out a courtesy call to Miller, Altman, maybe Self (based on rumors), and Crean just to say "hey, we have a job opening!" and see what they say.
