Fisher or Malzhan?

If I were making the choice for ND, I would go with Malzahn, because it just seems to me like he would fit better than Jimbo Fisher with ND fans. Malzahn is very laid back for an SEC coach. Jimbo seems like the epitome of good ole boy.

If I were picking for Texas, I would take Malzahn, because he grew up in Arkansas in SWC days. That means he knows all about the Texas mystique.

Hop on the bus, Gus. Don't need to discuss much.

The last Coach Gus at Texas was an icon of his sport.

Wow! Looks like Gus in a runaway at this point. He is a Texas boy and that's a huge plus. I think the high school coaches would love him.

Is he a Texas native? I assumed he was from Arkansas where he became famous as a high school coach.

If I had to choose...Gus Malzahn (with an "if you want to leave" buy out clause of gigantically large proportions)

Gus played high school and college ball in Arkansas, but he was actually born in Irving. He played two years with the Hogs and finished at Henderson State.

Malzhan. His offense with the type of talent he'd have access too in this state would be amazing too watch.

I think Fisher is the next Saban. His recruiting and what he's done with that program taking over for Bowden are amazing. I like Gus and would not in any way be upset with a hire of him, but we're talking about a guy who's team is literally destroying EVERYONE this season. Florida State is beating teams like VY and the Horns did in '05. And they are raking in top recruits on a yearly basis.

Everyone is infatuated with Saban, but Fisher is from the Saban tree and his last major hire was Saban's former DB coach Jeremy Pruitt who's now his DC and has done an excellent job there this season.

Great points. The only thing that concerns me with Fisher are the reports I've seen of his players being out of control on the campus and threatening professors about grades and such. Sounds like (if the little bit I've seen is true) that he can't control his program.

Either would be a good choice. But I would go with Malzahn here. Something about Fisher gives me pause right now still.
