Finebaum will be eating his words very soon...

I tend to agree with you, if you are comparing one administration to another. However, the Sabans and their friends live there and, like the reports we got previously, whereby their friends said no way Saban was coming to Texas, there should be leaks from the personal side. Don't you think?
From the Saban's personal side, yes depending on Terry's close friends that might see something. However, most of the groundwork was done before 12/13. No more house hunting trips to Austin, less prep for a possible move, the secrecy time frame is much shorter and falls in a busy holiday period with many distracting activities. Less time and less questions. It's easier for Terry to dismiss such rumors this time. And, Nick is sequestered in BCS Bowl prep. The Sabans can keep a lid on it for that short 3-week period (12/13 - 1/2/14). I think all parties involved learned from the last episode and don't want to repeat it.

Even on the Texas side things are quiet and sources are tight-lipped. The search committee and AD Patterson are still in communication lock-down. No one is talking, as expected with Patterson in charge. With Patterson as the sole point of contact with Sexton, our BMDs (with the possible exception of Rowling and McCombs) may be somewhat in the dark -- knowing that it's a waiting period until after the BCS Bowls. The best sources are left guessing.

Keep in mind that, if Saban was truly planning on finishing his coaching career in Alabama, why would he insist on no "buyout" in his new extension contract?

There have been leaks. I've posted about them. I don't know if this comes to fruition, but it's a possibility and there's dissension amongst the ranks. I have friends from Bama and the Sabans are still friends with people from Baton Rouge. I'm sure my friends aren't the only people to have heard rumblings, but we're not going to read about it on Bama boards because they're crossing their fingers and praying that they won't have to eat any crow.

And that's all I've got. I have no intel beyond the knowledge that there IS discussion because there are a lot of logistical hiccups that go along with potentially lighting the entire town of Tuscaloosa on fire.

I don't think Saban ever had a buyout since he's been at Alabama and they haven't pushed it. Perhaps they are confident that he's going to end his career there.imo.

I honestly have no idea how this coaching search is going to end but I have to admit it has been fascinating to watch.
The last couple of days have been like watching grass grow - in the winter! The committee is just going to wait us out. :-(
