Most people in this process do not have to make themselves available and, if they do, they have zero responsibility to answer truthfully.

Some have theorized that big $ people are setting the framework for the agreement. Yet, the big $ people are not authorized to negotiate on behalf of Texas (are they?).

Who has the authority to hire a new coach (employee)?

Who verifies that UT dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's?

Let's see. The AD and Board Of Regents. And the compliance dept and Lawyers for the university's. Boosters can only donate money.not hire or fire.

Now, of those listed above, I would think the attorneys have an ethical obligation to stay quiet.

I do not believe the new AD would be leaking right now (unless he were trying to undermine MB's legitimacy). I cannot imagine the University hiring a new AD that would conduct himself that way.

Exactly what Ive been saying. And Im pretty sure that we would follow the contractual obligations as well and notify Alabama if we wanted to speak with Saban. That has never been done or else it would have been reported. a BOR asked Sexton in order to gauge Saban's interest. Saban was polite and said that if he WERE to leave then Texas would be it. Thats all we know for sure that has been verified. everything else some of these posters are saying is pure camel fodder

Boosters per NCAA rules are only allowed to donate money. with that money im sure they have some people on the BoR and AD that listen to them and listen well. But at the end of the day the BoR and AD has to do whats best for the school and not for the individual boosters. UT will be fine with or without them and if sports mean that much to them that they will get all butt hurt cause their choice didnt get picked and wont donate money to our school anymore than i dont really think those people have the best interests of our Athletic programs and University in mind.

Orangeman, you keep refering to NCAA rules that could possibly be violated by BMD involvement in hiring a head coach. Please direct us to those rules. I am curious about your claims. Thanks.

The list of boosters who have been caught doing much more is long and distinguished, and only scratches the surface of how many actually do it.

Whisenant, we agree that boosters flex indirectly and are powerful.

One thing that many never consider, if Saban's agent has been contacting BMDs or whoever else is involved in the process. Although it is shady at best, it skirts the issue that Bama would not have to be advised because I believe the rule is that a University has to notify Bama if THEY would like to speak to Saban or his representation. They do not have to advise or notify if they are the recipient of the contact.
