on his show today said he has a trustworthy source who called him and told him he needs to get on the Saban to Texas story. Spent over an hour on the phone last night trying to confirm everything with sources. Has not been able to pin everything down, but said believes Texas is going hard after Saban. He was not able to report on Saban's interest. He didnt seem to think it happens based on the info so far but he left himself some outs. Doesnt have the story pinned down

Seems what has been known for awhile from the top insiders is starting to leak out nationally

Tell him to call McPhaul!

said he got something like 25 emails just this morning saying "done deal"

Why doesnt Alabama extend him and end this...... smoke smoke smoke
JS and others have mentioned Bama has already had an extension on the table for several weeks now. Saban has not signed it

The timing just seems really weird on all of this with the horns still in Big 12 Championship contention

I think Mack is gone no matter the outcome so dont think the big 12 race changes anything. I suspect that all ends on Sat anyway, but either way big news is prob going down next week

about time don't you think and Saban will be Coach of the Longhorns in 1 1/2 weeks. Now take this information to the Bank

First of all, Cowherd is a lazy smart-ass who gets all of his info strictly from of the internet. His verification process is asking one his flunkies to surf the net and send Tweets to see if something's in the wind. He a pot stirrer. He's not a sports journalist even though he pretends to be one on TV.

Hook'em!

Cowherd may be late t the party and/or a party crasher, but hopefully this party does take place.

Then there is this from an interview with Powers today:

“I’ve never met Nick Saban. I’ve never talked to Nick Saban. We have not hired Nick Saban,” Powers said. “Mack’s our coach, and I can say flatly that the rumors we have hired or come to an agreement with Nick Saban or even talked to him are false.”
Explain this away for me?

What would you expect him to say until it's official mack has stepped down and the job is open? Bill powers would not be personally hiring the next coach either or hammering out the deal

So your position is, rather than just remaining silent, Powers lied? What could possibly be his motive in saying what he said?

are you serious? this is how any major deal goes down in any business. nothing is confirmed until everyone is ready for the details to go public. it's sop in the big boy world.

Powers did not lie, he hasn't talk to Saban, doesn't have to its not his job.

This is why they hire an AD but I doubt he's talking to Saban either. But other people IMG , BMD , agents have. Who knows if it will work out are not. Elephant in the room must be moved before others can talk to Saban.

I'm no insider on anything but that just way I see it with all the information that's out there.

Actually makes sense. In the same post he admitted others had reached out to Saban through his agent. It is possible Texas made the guideliines for an offer, and Saban, through his agent, said I will talk to you after the season.

Then the is this from Jamail:

Joe Jamail says Mack Brown could decide future after weighing outcome of Baylor game. "He has not decided."
This is the same Jamail that not more than a month ago said Mack was coming back.

God I hope so.

At this point, any of 10-15 coaches (and I'm being extremely conservative) can come in and DAY 1 be much much much much better coaches than Brown and only 3 of those guys are Saban level pipe dreams.
