ESPN: Texas Strength & Conditioning Program

The question is, is it because of conditioning?
Every time in the recorded history of the western civilization, once a new S&C guy comes in, it's a new era, and players are quoted on how tough the new guy is.

We had great conditioned teams under Mad Dog, but the populace hated him because he was fat. Then comes Bennie, and the quotes of the new conditioning program are great, players saying how tough it is, etc.

Then, team doesn't do well and either fans throw Bennie under the bus, or still somehow blame Mad Dog.

I can remember when Greg Robinson went to Syracuse and one of the first things reported was the tremendous jump in toughness of the S&C.

S&C tremendously important of course - but the supposed disparity between S&C coaches probably one of the most BS calls. All successful teams have very good S&C programs.
Disagree on your description of Mad Dog, from everything I've read.

The absolutely key line there is, "From what I have read".

Read where - the internet? People who have never ever seen any aspect of what the guy did? Never saw a workout, realized his awards, never saw anything or knew anything about his workouts except internet gossip.

Madden was inducted into the USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame in June 2003, and in May 2009, he was elected president of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa). Among his other honors, he has also been named the 2004 National Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society and the 2005 College Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by Samson Equipment.

In 1988, Madden was certified by the National Association of Speed and Explosion (NASE). He was later certified by the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) in May of 1991 and was a unanimous selection to the ISSA Board of Directors, recognizing him as one of the world leaders in the profession of sports development.

Recognized worldwide as an authority on explosive power training, Madden was named the National Strength and Conditioning Specialist of the Year in 1996 by the International Sports Sciences Association. He also was recognized as a Master Elite Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association in 2000.

Madden is a member of the board of directors of Peak Performance USA, is on the editorial advisory board of Sports Speed magazine and is a certified expert by the National Association of Speed and Explosion. He also has a 602-pound bench press to his credit, making him one of the top bench pressers in the world.

Pray tell, what exactly of any significance have you, or any mad dog basher in this site read?
