Just a FYI for those who have not seen this. There is a poll on ESPN.com that ask "What do you make of booster Red McCombs' criticism of Texas hiring Charlie Strong?" The results as of right now with are...

(Total votes: 2,687)

50% He can say what he wants

50% He should give Strong a chance

...I am surprised. I would have thought the majority would have been overwhelmingly supportive of giving Strong a chance.

Did you vote?

I suppose Red is entitled to his own opinion. But it was a stupid thing to say and I hope Coach Strong has him eating his words by the end of next season.

I believe that its been posted someplace that Strong plans to meet with Red and clear the air.

Just because you can say something does not mean you have to..I would vote to never put a microphone in that mans face for the rest of his life..

It is all over......RED has already said his feelings several times......do not need a Poll with just to voting questions.

That poll is a bit mis-leading. Obviously he can say what he wants. However we can also say what we want about him.

Unfortunately there is always an audience for these things. It's the bad train wreck that you just can't look away from!

The really crappy part of all of this is Red has rained on Coach Strong's parade, and make no mistake, no matter how old Red is, he knew exactly what he was doing. It was a calculated way to lash out at Patterson for being black balled from the search and a way to voice his displeasure w the hire. It was the perfect embodiment of arrogance, entitlement, and result of the combination of the two.

I've received a couple of phone calls as well as a couple of emails from people that are not Big12 or Texas guys, but know I am, with a link to ESPN and asking me WTF?

Nice.

Those who are likely to forgive Red, probably already have. Those that are inclined to hold a grudge, probably will. Coach Strong will probably pay as much attention to this as he needs to, which will likely be next to nothing.

Time to move on...

Precisely.

I wish one of the choices were: "Do you think ESPN can kiss your ass?"

Nice of Coach Strong to take time out of an exceptionally busy schedule to go deal with this guy. Hopefully this is a one time deal and he can get back to the business of fixing the program.

Red is entitled to his opinion.
I can give my opinion on solving the debt crisis, doesn't mean I know a damn thing about it...then again neither do the people working on that, bad example.
