SignUp Now!Media? Have you read any of these boards the last month? It drives me crazy how the media has spun this entire HC search. The media forcibly puts every great coach in a spotlight by hounding them about whether they wanted to go to Texas-- whether interested or not. Most of these big name coaches were, or are, involved in bowl games, or playoffs. No coach is going to come out and say, "Well yes I'm very interested, and yes I don't mind blowing off my current commitments, or having my players and staff be massively sidetracked by my interest in UT."There isn't a coach out there, with big games with their current team, that's going to say that while entrenched in there own immediate priorities.
So then the media spins it as bc coaches are saying no, that Texas is suddenly an unwanted program and a job nobody wants. Are you kidding me?!?!
I can't wait for the years to come when the story changes to what a great job Coach Strong is doing and what a great fit he's been at Texas.
If the media had a collective hole, I'd tell them where to shove it. We are Texas, and it's our time. Hook'em.
"Some sports broadcasting or writing," he said. "Matt probably had a great affect on me."
KBME's Matt Jackson and Ogbonnaya became friends when both attended Southminster Presbyterian Church in Missouri City. After the death of Ogbonnaya's brothers, Jackson and his family helped the Ogbonnaya family get through their tough times.
" We grew up together in the church," Ogbonnaya said. "When my dad used to go to Nigeria, Matt would come over and take care of us. When I lost my brothers, he was a very instrumental part of our family. We've been very close."
Ifegwu Ogbonnaya, 19, was killed in an accident in 2002, and Jonathan Ogbonnaya, 14, died three months later during a pickup basketball game.
"I was there with him and tried to administer CPR," Chris Ogbonnaya said. "I did everything I could."
He has four surviving brothers and sisters, and a father to whom he is close. They comforted one another as did Jackson and his family. But Chris Ogbonnaya was smothered by grief for a long time.
That must be it cuz this cat dogged out CS.Jackson is a UH guy.Has issues with UT as well.
However, he also served as Chris Ogbonnaya's foster father or near to that. It's an interesting story, check it out some time.

Basically, we are flying under the radar. For some.Said Texas had to "settle" and that Strong was no where near the top of the list
I apologize for the negativity and the ranting. You and tshirtfan raise a logical point amongst a divided fan base. Bit of a button pusher I suppose. This is a valid point. I have been thinking of bringing it up too, but just did not want to engage in the ensuing endless debate.Short memories can be pretty damn handy I guess.
That's a damn good way to look at it!Basically, we are flying under the radar. For some.
lmao...I'm diggin' the chic though! The last time I listened to ESPN Houston they spent 45 minutes begging a lady to let them take a picture of her in a red bikini in front of their studio Christmas tree. The pic was okay but listening to them beg was the most pitiful thing I've heard on "sports" radio. If you want real sports talk in Houston you listen to Charlie Pallilo, after that it's slim pickings.
Here's the pic for the curious.

Charlie is smartest guy on radio even if he is a bit pedantic at times. If you want real sports talk in Houston you listen to Charlie Pallilo, after that it's slim pickings.
I like the Blitz as well. They are crude but make no apologies for who they are. And they're usually pretty much spot on with thier assesments. And if they're wrong they will tell you, oh well we blew it. To me that is better than catering to the masses like some sports personalities.I like ESPN 97.5, they are laid back, the Blitz, the show w the chick in her bikini is one of my favorites, they are crude at best, but they don't try to hide it. They refer to themselves as degenerates. Some people don't like it as much because they want more sports, meh, they're good entertainment. I do enjoy streaming the Horn up there in Austin..I was a little bummed that they let Sean go..
