Ehlinger shoulder update

That is good news.  If I were CTH, I wouldn't let him throw until next week.

I would give him OSU game off. Let there be three weeks of healing before he plays again.

It would be nice if we could scheme a productive game plan with Shane as the starter and give Sam another week off. Since most of us think that the freshmen QBs will play in 4 games if the score allows it, then maybe get Rising some first team reps as well since we have 2 weeks to prepare.

I agree with both of you on this. We definitely need him to be ready for WVU. Let Shane start for OSU game. He's gonna need an extra week to heal up. Even get Cam some reps as well

We aren't good enough to start Shane and win on the road. The margin between us winning and losing every single week is narrow. Need our best players to win the rest of the way. Not sure why we think we can afford to take our foot off the gas? We aren't that good yet.

Agree. Shane has flaws that can’t be gameplaned around. Holds on to the ball too long, floats the ball on deep throws, checks down too often, tips off run plays to the defense,  guaranteed to have at least 2 delay of game penalties.

We would be better off having LJH run wildcat the entire game

Exactly. I think we try to talk ourselves into thinking shane is good because we like the guy, but truthfully, he's not a good player. It's pretty obvious to me.

You do realize that Shane started and won twice on the road last year?

I disagree.  If he’s cleared by the medical staff, let him play if it makes the team better.  We need all hands on deck for all games (see Tulsa).

A 1st° sprain may not totally heal in that period of time. He may be medically cleared to play without being 100% healthy. I would wait until he’s 100% healthy. We should be able to beat OSU with my playing quarterback. B)

I thought I saw where Shane was 3-0 as a starter for Texas? Granted I'd rather have Sam as my starting QB but only if he's ready. In Herman I trust, HOOK'EM!

There were some balls that Shane threw  to CJ in those last couple of drives that were money. Short to intermediate passes it what he needs to throw. The real question is can he be a threat running the ball?  If Shane has to start then we will need to really need the defense come to play. Surely CTH can come up with a game plan for Shane in two weeks. Of course it should have Ingram getting 20+ carries.

Sam has two weeks to heal and a deep and talented med staff working with him.

As much as some of you want to rest Sam for OSU, do you think Sam would then be the same Sam he was before a full three weeks later? He needs to stay in a groove, IMO.

I understand the grove you’re talking about, but he really needs confidence. If there a chance he could be medically cleared but still have some lingering pain?  If there is pain then he could lose confidence in his throws which turns into bad throws or bad decisions. Would the staff ask him to play through some mild shoulder pain?
