The men's swimming and diving team are on pace to win their 36th consecutive conference title. Look at this guy's resume. Is there a coach with a better resume than that?

  • 37th season at Texas
  • Has led Texas to 10 NCAA team titles, 11 NCAA runner-up finishes and 28 top-three finishes at the NCAA Championships
  • 35 consecutive top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships
  • 35 consecutive conference titles
  • Three-time head coach, U.S. Olympic men's swimming team (1992, 2004 & 2008)
  • 49 NCAA individual champions and 39 NCAA champion relays
  • 29 Olympians who have collected 39 gold medals, 16 silver medals and eight bronze medals

Texas has been so fortunate to have had him as Swimming and Diving Coach all these years.  The man has done a

wonderful job coaching for UT, so very obviously!

The man is a legend in UTsports history.  Is there a better resume in Men's College Swimming than that?  I suspect not.

At some point, Bellmont needs to put a statue of Eddie Reese in a prominent place outside the UT swim center or some other appropriate place.

Hook 'Em!

There's probably not a better resume in Men's College Swimming.

In fact, it might well be the best resume in all of sports.

Classy guy too, so I've heard. One of the docs I work with told me a story that he tried to walk on to the swim team when he was in college. There already were a lot of guys on the team, most qualifying for NCAAs in 3-4 events. Anyway, Coach told him maybe if he had come in the year before, he was good enough that he would've taken him on as a project, but knowing that he wanted to go to med school and the time commitment that the swim team necessitates, Coach encouraged him to use the time to focus on his studies. But every time doc would go work out at the pool, Coach always remembered him, shook his hand and asked how school was going. I thought it was a wonderful story that shows exactly the kind of person that Coach Reese is.
