Greetings Gents,

In an effort not to patronize any posters upon this cool website, simply due to the burgeoning fact that intelligence just does not seem to be a lacking trait upon this forum at all.

This being said, does anyone have any related information (willing to share) in regards to the forthcoming DKR South End Zone expansion plans?

Just as many of you...I have had the foremost pleasure of participating upon many related UT Longhorn websites. I have witnessed countless threads involving countless themes etc.... But the aforementioned theme has always left me beyond intrigued. A few years past...upon BON (Burntorangenation) I did view a few pics of a proposed / completed South End Zone expansion. At that time, I must admit that these prospectives / concepts were indeed pretty cool....but then it seemed as though momentum just died down... and all plans, renderings, concepts, etc... just somehow faded away....

So you may now be asking, "just why is this guy interested in such details"? Well, my interest, is in lieu of seeing and hearing so many of UT's prospective recruits state "that they may be interested in attending such schools as ATM, Baylor, Oregon, you name it, where related activities such as new stadium construction and other related athletic facilities are now upon the fast track". In my view, it certainly seems at times during interviews that... some really highly regarded recruits act as though the stadium plans as per ATM...shall be to a degree that nothing nowhere could ever compete with them within the State of Texas....

Upon the other hand, I have also heard and read that "upon completion of the DKR South End Zone, that it could very well stand as the largest stadium in North America".

Gentlemen, to break it down a bit, I just sometimes get the sense that "Belmont" is just not doing enough in regards to relaying to any of our prospective recruits, that ATM just will not rein supreme in regards to football stadium plans and construction. As well as other related athletic related facilities. Oh well, maybe upon the hire of our new AD that all of these related stadium construction concepts shall one day spring forward....but what about now. Anyone? HOOK'EM!

I think the dell medical school construction & building a new basketball arena are happening before the south endzone expansion!

I think the South Endzone expansion would have nothing to do with that initially. Different sources of funding and in the initial phases there's no space crunch. But in some of the later phases it looks like the current practice facility would be taken up by new buildings. Same with the Arena. Initially, the FEC wouldn't be touched. Moncreif-Neuhaus being rebuilt will probably be the first announcement as it will have to be rebuilt, likely to house the entire football operation.

If Luck is indeed the next AD, he is very good at Stadium issues so we should hopefully be in good hands for football stadium expansion and basketball stadium creation.

My guess is that those plans are changing.

I doubt they use that space for another 25,000 seats as the original plans called for. Attendance in college football is dropping as TV has become such an appealing option.

If I were to wager as to how those plans will turn out, my guess is that they build an amazing suite complex in the south end zone, similar to what was done at OSU. Those suites and facilities in the south end zone are first class, and create incredible revenue for a relatively low price. They are also much easier to sell for premium prices.

Id expect another 100 - 150 suites with 5-7000 additional seats, or whatever number it takes to remain the largest stadium in Texas. That would be my plan at least.

Austin is in a unique situation. As it stands, the population of Austin/ Round Rock is 1.75 mil and is projected to be 2.75 by 2030. Austin is also the largest city in the nation without a pro sports franchise. Closing in the south end will be less than 25,000 seats. Probably lots of suites for corporations wanting entertainment for clients.

When Austin adds another 1 million, filling another 15-20 thousand seats is going to be no problem. And, for the record, Bryan/ College Station is currently 200,000 (with students) and projected to go to 260,000 by 2030. The Horns will be the first $200 mil college sports program and the first $250 million program. One of the reasons getting the right AD at UT is some important, because getting it wrong costs a lot more at UT than it does at other schools.

I would expect the master plan for the new med school/ new BB arena and south end expansion will be reviewed by the new AD and plans to be finalized in a year or so. The south endzone proposal has been put before the BOR a couple of times in the past few years and it was deferred for further study.

Its on the agends. Its going to happen. Its just a matter of priorities.

As I have stated upon my initial posting "this forum just does not seem to be lacking upon intelligence in regards to it's posters". Gentlemen, I must thank you as per your contributions thus far....

I must state that I am inclined to agree as per your thoughts / statements. However, there is still case to be made for ambiguity throughout. There is still so much work left to be done at all levels. I have even been told...that there are even plans for a new state of the art "Godzillatron". The old one is supposed to be moved to the new track complex.....imagine that.

The biggest wish that I harbor at this time, is that Belmont can somehow step up to the plate as per the efforts of official spokesmen, and assure any / all prospective recruits, that The University of Texas does have plans in place to complete "phase III" of DKR....and that it shall not be second to any in the State of Texas....not to mention the nation. Gents, we may not like to admit these things in regards to any prospective recruits....but these young kids cannot seem to get enough of the "wow" factor...not to mention outright "glamour" in regards to sports palaces, athletic facilities / venues, dorms, etc... it is what it is....

...one can only dream...right? HOOK'EM

Austin/Round Rock will grow faster than they are projecting. People just keep on coming here in droves.

Even if the family situation doesnt require me to head off to Sand Aggie land for a few years Im still strongly considering moving a bit further out than where we are now.

One of the reasons I have been saying I'm expecting a thorough house cleaning within Bellmont is that after 32 years of Deloss, some sclerosis has set in. Information coming out of the program is of little quality, of little quantity and and to most of us, little interest.

We need people inside the program that want to engage and energize the fanbase, not to monitor our comments on message boards, try to control information flow and to give us the company line. We need a new SID, the person doing social media for the program needs to explain why they should be retained and we need a number of people sent packing.

I sincerely hope the first order of business for the new AD is to let us know what type of changes to expect and I hope he does a better job of communicating with the fan base than Deloss did. I understand a lot of decisions still need to be made about big ticket items, but if I was the new AD, the first person I would fire is the sports information director, followed by the people who run the official websites.

Hopefully whoever comes in at AD will know that this in an issue, and know all the issues at Belmont. Hopefully, they dont think "this is Texas, so bs like that cant go on here."

If less than 100 people are let go from Bellmont I will be disappointed. A lot of people on the UT payroll have failed to deliver for the athletic department. I'm excited about the possibility of change on the field. I'm thrilled about the possibility for change in media relations, etc. People give the fanbase crap about being lethargic during the games. We aren't engaged on a number of levels.
