My opinion often runs counter to "popular thought" but that's because I perfer to be my own judge of games. . .

I used a different handle on another board just to see the reaction from some of the internet tough guys. . . .it was actually hilarious. . .had one poster rip my "echeese" post on one site but on another (with a different handle) site comment "some really good observations". . .it was pretty much a cut and paste.. .

Sadly, confirmation bias runs rampant on the net..

I'm referencing his resignation agreement, also known as his current contract that's already been negotiated. The thing Mack and Jamail agreed upon BEFORE he resigned, but apparently aren't happy with two weeks later. Mack's worth is supposedly now a huge issue. According to you and a few others, the Longhorn Foundation is acutely aware of Mack's worth and his previous contract allowed for speaking engagements and/or television. But this information has just now hit Mack/Jamail and he's worth more than $500K per year. He needs more than a 100% increase in salary because all of this evidence wasn't addressed efficiently in the first place. Why not? And why don't you find such a huge oversight odd when Mack has incredible representation?

Even if we're to pretend that Mack is simply being a good businessman and attempting to receive his fair share, this should have been done correctly the first time so everyone could move forward and keep the university's best interest in mind. If Mack is the class act you want him to be, these negotiations could also wait until Texas has all of their ducks in a row and a new coach in place. Mack doesn't need to drag himself and the university through the mud during this transition period with unnecessary drama. It's unbecoming, ill-timed and comes across as a very petty money-grab. I'm not surprised by the timing of this story which makes me think Mack and Jamail know exactly who UT is hiring.

Exactly. It's not about the $1.3 million per year. The bottom line is Mack should have addressed this properly before his resignation or he needs to wait until AFTER the new hire is in place. Terrible timing on his part whether he's seeking a fair deal or being a vindictive child. Nobody all of sudden realizes they're worth 100% more as the OP suggests.

As a long time OB member, I have shared a lot of board time with Echeese and his act gets old very, very quickly. He is a pompous a** that believes he is the smartest guy in every room he enters and he does not "suffer fools" (and a "fool", to Echeese, is anyone that does not blindly accept his position on every topic). Get used to this thread, it will look like every single thread that he starts or posts on. His posts are basically to instruct you on how you should believe on a topic because he is never open to actually considering anyone else's position.

He does have a new angle now, though. If you don't accept his position you are automatically a lemming who follows the pack. Because, according to Echeese, he (and those that agree with his instructions) are the only ones that are not lemmings. Kind of ironic.

I prefer to have conference titles and a natty or 2. That's what most of the coaches that have natty a do. Also, see DKR for an example.
