DE Erick Fowler commits to LSU

For the record, the "one high school coach away from special teams being an elite unit" was rhetorical. The problems with UT special teams under Coach Strong seem philosophical. It was an extreme weakness last year, yet he turned them over to a high school coach. Ouch.

At some point, we need to start seeing measurable improvement. It is legitimate to ask when can we start seeing it and what will it be. We need to start seeing improvement soon.

Maybe we will see improvement soon, won't know until the season starts.

We also need to see improvement in recruiting. If mid-major recruiting strategies were really that successful, we would have seen successful teams copy them by now.

since we don't play until September I wouldn't expect to see much for three months.

neither you or I know the seriousness of our recruiting efforts.
I don't care in the least about the seriousness. I'm in not looking to give out certificates of effort. I am only concerned about results. And by results I mean improvement over last year's results that ended up with one scholarship after signing day with no one interested and four recruits unable to get through the clearinghouse by the middle of June. When does the improvement begin?

nothing means shit until Feb 16. Thems the rules. I just refuse to freak out with 8 months to go.
I have to trust strong because 1) I really have no choice and 2) he's recruited quite a few guys drawing NFL checks and I haven't.

He's not getting paid to run a development program for the NFL.

that's not what I said either but after thinking about it is that a bad thing?
When he has failed to even produce a single winning season any preoccupation with running a NFL development program would define him as a failure, so yes. It's a bad thing.
In a seriousness, since when did expecting a college football coach develop a successful college football team become something difficult to comprehend?

When will Coach Strong start delivering improvement? No one is even being so bold as to expect something so outrageous as a winning season. Heaven forbid. All I am asking for is improvement.

Your just not demanding enough as the Dude. Three months is plenty of time to demand to see results and post every day demanding improvement.

He knows his stuff, he knew CS would be a failure when we hired him and now he knows Traylor will be a bust as our special teams coach even though he's never coached a game at UT. Damn Charlie had to go hire a high school coach more proof he's not up to the job.

I'm guilty of accepting mediocrity I suppose. If I don't see some improvement in the football program by August 1, I'm gonna f-ing LOSE it.

Heaven forbid Charlie Strong realize he had a losing season and got blown out in a bowl game with a team that only managed 59 yards against the team that finished last in the SEC West.

Mid-major recruiting strategies don't produce successful in P5 programs. If they did, P5 programs would have adopted them already.

Charlie Strong has to step up his game above mid-major level. When does he intend to start to make that change? It's a simple question.
