Just won the 9th game of the season at Duke. Let that sink in for a second. First time since 1941.

If you're looking for a C-O-A-C-H there might not be better than him out there.

He was at Ole Miss...

Didn't he coach at Rice for awhile??
Nope. Tennessee for like 2 decades in various capacities ending up as OC with Peyton. Then HC at Ole Miss with Eli. ND assistant and back to Tennessee and now Duke HC.

You're probably thinking of David Bailiff, the current Rice coach.

Went back an edit my original thought...

Then I was trying to remember who was there before Bailiff...

Did not mean to derail this thread..

You're good djb. Another interesting fact about Cutcliffe is that following his first losing season at Ole Miss he was told by the AD to fire some assistants. He said no and so they fired him along with the assistants. And Ole Miss has pretty much sucked ever since until Hugh Freeze.

Is he doing an outstanding job or is the Coastal Division that far down..
Probably a little bit of both. But at the same time he's still winning games against VaTech and Miami with Duke. Down or not nobody wins games like that at Duke.

Absolutely love Bailiff. Great Coach. Great guy.

But he ain't Texas good.

I think there is a short list of coaches (maybe a list of 1) and guys that have been coaching w/o any skins on the wall have an uphill battle...

Just not "pretty" enough to please the Brass. But no doubt he's a damn good football coach. We could and have done worse in the past.

Going to be interested to see, as the Coastal could be looking at a 5 way tie for 1st at 5-3. UNC upsets Duke and VT and Miami win, that's 5 teams at 5-3.
