Darrell Wyatt had been mentioned as a potential candidate at Sam Houston St. The job just came open within the hour as Willie Fritz heads to Georgia Southern. If Wyatt leaves, there could be trouble among UT WR commits.

Wyatt leaving for a promotion to HC is an issue that can be spun, and I'm pretty certain he would do all he can to secure his commits on the way out if he has an eye on the long game (unlike Bo Davis). It's not the same situation as if he wasn't being retained or if he was making a lateral. I would hope we can manage that transition.

If I remember correctly Joker Phillips is Jamal Adams godfather. It might help in getting Adams to Texas.

Great for Wyatt. For every possible de-commit, there is a possible commit from the new coach. It will all play out in the end.

We have 6 WR commits right now. I'm not going to be too upset if 1-2 of them switch. That position isn't the major need position like DT is.

If Wyatt gets that job he's going to have some pretty big shoes to fill. Fritz did a very good job there.
