Wow, I thought this kid was all gung-ho Hook'em. I really feel like the recruiting mess we've found ourselves in lately has everything to do with the uncertainty around the Head Coach position.

I think we are going to see a few others during the transition from one one staff to the other. Only natural.

Still wont call the job open until its officially open...but kicking scholarships are rare commodities. He's not walking away to be closer to home, I have it on direct authority this was the offer he'd been working his tail off for.

I think its a sign the family at least believes Brown isnt coming back and this would be the first scholarship offer yanked by a new staff.

Recruiting is a dumpster fire if we have a punter decommit. I hear a trainer or 2 might transfer to Ball State.

Like I said in another thread, the end of the line is fast approaching, and this train is coming to a stop very soon.

Man Mack's hit rate on kickers and punters hasn't been too great so I'm not too upset. And with the types of kickers who are in Texas that might be willing to walk on I see no point in worrying about a committed scholarship kicker backing out. especially when you factor in the new coaching staff needing all the room they can get.

This is not the way to be thinking on this one. This was a gift as far as I'm concerned. You don't need to be giving a punter a scholarship in the first place, at least not in this class with numbers getting tight. Minus Shorter getting hurt, this was a good week of opening up 3 scholarships.

No question the uncertainty surrounding Mack is going to hurt. We'll lose several more before signing day.
