Daje Johnson Update

someone should have some information...just in a few days.

Daje passed something called a May-mester course worth 3 hours, now only needs to pass 6 hours in each summer session to stay eligible.  Still sounds like a challenge to me but I wasn't an athlete and spent too much time at the Orange Bull, Pink Lizard and Sco Pro Lounge. :)

From what I have heard about Daje in the off-season, he is meeting his academic requirements per the new staff.  He still has summer academic-related obligations but if he keeps up the good progress he will be available for the North Texas game.

Let's be realistic about Johnson.  He's had his share of issues but he adds a dynamic element to the the offense that we NEED.  I also talked to someone today close to the program that said Johnson was a "wildcard" when asked if he would be ready to go when the season started. Then it was explained to me that when an athlete does what he knows he needs to do to see the field again, it is just as easy for him/her to fall behind again in the blink of an eye.

Daje is putting the effort in right now to get things straight in the classroom and hopefully he continues it throughout the summer.  The Horns need him this year.

just what on earth happened to this guy?  was he just not contributing to his academia... in order to pass to the next level?  i find this a bit odd, considering he goes to UT.

6 hours per summer session is not difficult. From my experience summer courses were much easier. 2 classes a day shouldn't be a struggle. The classes are also done in like 5 weeks. Just show up to class and do the work, and he will pass.

I spoke with JS today. He didn't mention this but then again, I didn't ask.

IMO, it's a good idea for football players to take summer classes.  How many hours are they required to take in the fall?  12?

One of the big reasons I like the new players to get on campus and get 9-12 hours at least out of the way. . .

Gives them a "buffer" so they can take only 12 in the fall .. . .

All reports seem to point to Daje "buying in" to CFS' system which will be huge for us and Daje down the road. . . if Daje stumbles, I understand J Warrick has some similar skill sets. . . .

Six hours of credit is not hard to pass but it does take focus and discipline. If he is dedicated to it and more importantly dedicated to continuing to play football at the University of Texas he'll get it done fairly easily. If he doesn't get it done, then he really did not want to play. At this point it is that easy. He has the time and the support. I've heard from a few people that he has had a good turn of attitude.

Bingo. It's up to him at this point.

As per AggieJoe, everyone takes online courses.  If it's good enough for Manziel, why not Daje?
