Crossfire with McPhaul - Holiday Edition - 12/29/2013

Thanks McPhaul. I'm still amazed how Coach Brown has alienated so many people that supported him for so long.

There is nothing I would like to see more than a win tomorrow so he can go out with a win and we can put all this behind us. There wll be a new sheriff in town shortly.

McPhaul,

Have you heard anything about what if anything is being done to placate Saban's camp about Mack?

Heard that Case has been an absolute mess ever since Jamail's sick comments. Tomorrow is going to be rough
What comments? I heard he called him a gimp. Is that it, or what?

No mention of Strong. . off the list?
Does the NCAA have anything like the NFL’s “Rooney Rule?” The “Rooney Rule” is a National Football League policy requiring teams to interview minority candidates for head coaching positions. Legally, the NCAA can’t adopt such a rule. The NFL is a for-profit business that is legally able to draft and enforce such policies. In contrast, the NCAA is a non-profit and voluntary member association which can’t influence individual campus hiring practices. However, in early 2008, Division I athletics directors recognized the problem and adopted hiring guidelines similar to the “Rooney Rule.” While voluntary, peer pressure plays a major role in ensuring schools comply with these guidelines. The main focus, however, should be getting minority coaches hired, not just interviewed.

EDIT: Meant to add that Strong will at the very least interview for political reasons.

At this point, I almost don't give a damn about who the next coach is. I'm just ready for all the BS to be over. Get the game out of the way tomorrow and get the new guy lined up as quick as possible.

I always want Texas to win, but if we will tomorrow will that be the start of a Mack Brown crusade to come back and get one more year? With the stuff that he has pulled in the last month, I would not be surprised at anything he does. The writers of "Days of Our Lives" don't have anything on Mack Brown. I am just so sick and tired of his ego.

Probably the best Crossfire yet. Great content. McPhaul, buddy, you're getting so much better at articulating these things.

Good job!
I'm definitely what you would call a work in progress. I think it is important to mention that I have some help behind the scenes that are helping me grow into this.

TYVM Jesus. Lol

Great read and good info. I'm with SFLonghorngirl in wondering what kind of changes Patterson has in mind once the HC has been announced and what the Athletic Department will look like.
Same here...Hope he uses a large broom in reorganizing the entire Department...

Great work thank you sir! I'm thinking there will be announcement January 6th to upstage Auburn.

Regarding Swoopes, again have never witnessed anything quite like this -my way or the highway with Mack. He would lose a game, toss a season before he would bench a McCoy. It's sickening really. Not playing Monday-morning quarterback here but Mack was allowed to waste a redshirt for a total of 13 minutes -what kind of coach does that? I'm sure if Mack had another year, we would see Case's name on the stadium-yet we don't see James Street- sad really.

I hope the powers at be put a halt to this drama with Mack once and for all. Should never have allowed him to coach the Alamo Bowl.

An advocate but frustrated donor-

Been saying this a while. I'd expect almost half of the staff to be cut and replaced back to about 2/3 of what the total number is now. Patterson is about running things efficiently and having people there who are proffesional and work diligently. When people talk of complacency and fat in the AD they are talking about the number of staff members that have a job or a created job becuase of friendships and relationships over qualificaions and necessity.

McPhaul

I like the FOB interview format....

You and your guys/gals are doing a great job....Keep it up.

Thanks for the late/earlly Crossfire...Can skip detox this week and go straight to rehab....

Crossfire was well-written and informative. It was also easy to read. I really liked the 'flow' of the piece. Nice work.

Hook 'em!

There's shooting oneself in the foot and then there's the current display put on by MBTF. Talk about being out of touch with reality!

I want Saban bad. But I will be extremely happy with Fisher. What's interesting is that if we have to go past these 2 towards Briles, I'm hearing little Danny Snyder will go after Briles to salvage RGIII. Might put a little pressure on us securing who we want.

It is now December 29th. Each day builds suspense beyond what is reasonable. I need a drink.

Anyone that would choose to work for dumbass Dan Snyder over coaching at Texas is probably not a coach we'd want or need anyway.
