Hello everyone!  I've been out-of-pocket quite a bit lately, and I'm trying to catch up, if that's possible.

There is an expense that will be in the upcoming report that will be a one-timer.  The buy-out of the leases for all of the guys living off-campus.  I assume that will be significant, but in my opinion, it will be worth it.  It's difficult to whip a team into shape if you don't have control, and I have never understood how a coach could control a team spread out all over Austin.

In my opinion, the in-fighting is unavoidable when there is so much upheaval in the power structure, but I don't like it.  I smelled a rat with Cigarroa.  Really, why does a dedicated surgeon give up transplant surgery for administration?  Is he a surgeon or an administrator?  I still respect Bill Powers.  Powers has done good things for The University, and I can't tell that Cigarroa has done a thing.  

Quite frankly, I wondered why Jamail and McCombs were so quiet throughout all of this.  Perhaps their silence was deafening.

much obliged java, as per your wonderful revelations.  upon my most humble view, it now seems that GOD is indeed smiling upon the 40 acres.  just think about it for a moment.. he retires DD.. brings in SP.. get's rid of MB.. brings in CS.. retires BP.. retires FC.. and is now preparing long dirt naps as per a few BMD's.  oh yes, he is indeed smiling...

Monarch, let's not bury them before they are ripe!  That is a good way to get some good conspiracy theories going on this forum, but before you know it, you might just have a little more excitement outside your front door than you bargained for with all of them police detectives wondering what exactly you meant by that comment. I think that we should oughta save all that excitement for it's due expression in it's proper venue once football season commences.

This was good.  I have no answer for Cigarroa - other than he might have been tired of working 65 hour weeks.

True, doc, but have you ever known a dedicated surgeon that really liked administration and was willing to devote the necessary time to run an entity like the University of Texas System?  The surgeons that I have known, or have direct knowledge of, either loathed administrative work, or loathed extensive patient contact, or both.  They were not consensus builders.

A surgeon once told a medical student, 'I'm a cutter, not a thinker'.  I believe that was said in jest, and should not be taken too literally; however, I don't think a surgeon translates well into the Chancellor of one of the most extensive University Systems in the US.  He probably did do it to raise money and gain influence.  Now, forgive me for saying this, but how does that make him any different from anyone who can be bought?

By the way, doc, I would bet that he could have cut back on his surgery schedule.  I'm fairly certain UTSA would have been willing to accommodate him.  I think he did it to raise money.  In some respects a worthy endeavor, but if he compromised UT Austin in doing so, he is compromised, damaged goods.

Obviously, the link to the DOE university financial reports was too technically challenging for you to master. I keep forgetting you think 45 weeks constitutes "almost four years." And, for the record, I have never said the program's financial status is "dire" of that "the sky was falling." I am assuming those were strawmen you created for your own purposes. I will, again, do my best to simplyfy the message down to a much simpler level.
