So here is where we sit.  Most major outlets on the Texas side of things are reporting it is a done deal.  Some even have specific terms (2 year deal).  Those on the Tulsa side and some in the national media are denying an offer has even been made.  Well folks it looks like we've got ourselves a good ole fashioned SOURCE-OFF.  We are digging into it with our Tulsa source at the moment and will provide an update of what we hear when we have it.  

My take of the situation is that I doubt the other major sites would roll with this news if they didn't have solid backing.  It's likely that Gilbert got the offer and it has yet to make its way to the Tulsa media.  It's certainly possible to hear of it from this side before hearing about it from the Tulsa side.  Also, in coaching searches there is a natural tendency for the side that is losing the coach to stall like this.  Maybe it's the last little bit of control they get over the situation.  From what we heard last night and the developments today, we'd be very surprised if it didn't happen.  Still, nothing can be certain until the press conference is called.

Even though the cat is out of the bag I would be remiss If I didn't tell you we heard back from our sources confirming it's done and is a 2 year deal.  We are still working Tulsa sources for some other information.  We'll update when we get it all.

Thats interesting.  Sounds like Thomsen and Spradlin are being reported by Burton as possible OL coach candidates - so I guess Shackleford may get his wish.
