Does anybody remember what the announcer said about the 4.1 innings pitched?....

Does anybody remember what the announcer said about the 4.1 innings pitched?.... gave the total pitch count in getting the outs, and number of strikes thrown. Some ridiculous numbers. Averaged something like 10 pitches per inning. Not per batter. Inning!

Honestly, the SEC was top heavy with Florida and Vanderbilt (defending champ), and damn, that's it. To think they had... what was it... 6 teams aiming to get in at one time. Ridiculous the love they got. LSU won one game. That's all the SEC West could manage. One game. Done. Vandy has won two very close 1-run games. Looked good doing it. They're a helluva tough out.

Gonna have to go out and earn it. TCU, I mean.
good grief. 4 teams made it to Omaha and a fifth lost in the 16th of a super. They had a good year. It's OK. You SECphobes are a strange breed.

I don't have a problem with who made it to the Supers or to Omaha.  I did chuckle at ags saying they should be a top 8 seed, but that's more about ags than their conference.

The teams that are in Omaha earned it, and it's a new season once you're there.

From the local perspective, i am happy LSU is out.

The Astros have already been moving quickly signing picks but Alex Bregman (#2 overall) is the next necessary domino to fall - namely his signing is holding up that of hot shot high schooler Daz Cameron (1st round comp pick).

They have already signed Preston Tucker (#5 overall) as well as their 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th round picks.

Outside of Daz, the only top 10-round picks left unsigned are all in the CWS (Bregman, Thomas Eshelman, Riley Ferrell and Zac Person).

So, nothing personal, but lets get this show over with and get these guys in the system.

I dislike the $ec just as much as anyone but to say Florida & Vandy are the only 2 good teams in the $ec is just wrong. As STP states, they had half the field in the CWS and 2 of them made the final 4. aggy was pretty good to this year, whether we like to admit it or not.

LSU's bats could never get it going in postseason play. That conundrum mixed with tough TCU pitching spelled doom for the Tigers. I don't think you'll get much of an argument that the SEC was top heavy, but 4 of them were top 10 all season long, with 3 of those making it to Omaha.

Last year... my daughter fell smitten for the Vandy outfielder that caught the deep fly ball that helped seal Texas doom.

The first college presentation we visited this past year (she'll graduate in 2016) was... Vanderbilt.

Not related. But... she's focused only on academics. And cute boys in baseball uniforms. Conference affiliation... not a factor.

FINAL

Florida 10

Virginia 5

The Gators doubled up the 'Hoos and force an elimination game.

Vandy chased Alexander, (TCU starter,) after 2 1/3, 7 hits and 3 Earned Runs.

Now a 2 run dinger, and Vandy is up 5-0 in B4.

Not looking very good for the frogs.  TCU brings Morrison out to start B5, down 5-0, and the first batter gets a lead-off triple.  Next batter hits an RBI single to RF.  Next up hits a FC 6-4.

Runner on 1B steals 2B, throw gets past SS and runner heads to 3B.  SAC fly scores another, and TCU now down 7-0 with 2 outs B5.

TCU puts one up on the board in T7, Ferrell in for TCU, and TCU trails 7-1 after 8 complete.  Chances are running out for the froggies.  Last 3 outs for them.

TCU goes down 1-2-3 in T9, and Vandy goes to the Championship for the second straight year.  TCU goes home losing 7-1.  Kaylee Hartung's fault?  :P ;)

FINAL

Vanderbilt 7

TCU 1

The Commodores played perfectly from the winner's bracket, diissecting TCU regardless of what the Horned Frogs tried. 2 runs in the 3rd, 2 more in the 4th, then 2 more in the 5th sucked the life out of the game.

Vandy is undefeated in the entire NCAA tournament thus far if I'm not mistaken.
You are correct, Vandy has not lost at the CWS. Not sure if they lost a game in a regional.

Like your posts, Agmaniacmike...keep 'em coming.

Regardless of which team wins tonight, I'll be rooting for them in the championship series.
