I'm hearing Drayton is being courted by both the Cowboys and the Rams. Probably just comes down to money I suppose.

And no, this will not cause BR to enter a portal. This is a reward for one's efforts, not a bad thing. Even still, BR was a good recruiting job although he whiffed on many others we went all in on in the past. Drayton is a good coach and won't easily be replaced. He wasn't that great at recruiting and we'll likely score an upgrade there in that respect.

If the Cowboys really want Drayton, you can expect Jerry Jones to open up the pocket book. He is known for paying coaches what it takes to get them on staff, or keep them on staff, when it is someone who the Cowboys really like.

SHA, is your contact hearing anything about Samples coming back in some Asst Coach capacity if Drayton moves on?  Would seem like there's more room on the staff to make it happen and to add him as a Rainmaker recruiter for DFW.

It’s weird I don’t know how to feel. Obviously drayton is a great coach but I feel we could benefit from a better recruiter

I have not heard his name put out there. However, it's early in the assistant coach search. 

I don't know that Samples is any better a recruiter than some others we've had. He is well connected in the Dallas area, his dad is coach at Duncanville. I suppose if you hire him you give him the DFW area. Quay Davis was a big get Samples had for us, but then he decommitted when Samples went to SMU. Its beginning to look like Davis is heading our way again, despite Samples recruiting him for SMU.
