Ranking for the bowl games not for the season but nothing wrong with good press:

10. Tom Herman, Texas
– 5 Thoughts on the Alamo Bowl
Texas 38, Utah 10

That was a fantastic Utah team that got totally dominated. If getting up for a bowl game is one of the biggest keys, Herman has that side of things down. Utah was the much better team coming off a much better season, and Herman’s team owned this from the start.

Others of note:

23. Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M
– 5 Thoughts on the Texas Bowl
Texas A&M 24, Oklahoma State 21

Texas A&M got the win. It wasn’t pretty, and the offense struggled to work, but Jimbo is great in bowl games and his defense was fantastic after the first quarter. Kellen Mond had to save the day, the team was a -2 in turnover margin, and the eight penalties hurt. Jimbo got the win.

Poor Aggie and E Acho is an idiot.

20. Mack Brown, North Carolina
– 5 Thoughts on the Military Bowl
North Carolina 55, Temple 13

The ACC team is supposed to beat the Group of Five program, but Brown’s team didn’t leave any doubt with a great overall performance. There was offensive balance, the D held Temple to 272 yards, and it turned into a laugher. Brown’s Tar Heels were ready.

78. Manny Diaz, Miami (dead last)
– 5 Thoughts on the Independence Bowl
Louisiana Tech 14, Miami 0

The first ever Independence Bowl was played in 1976. In all the time since then, no team had ever been shutout. After what Miami did this bowl season, Diaz has the bar set low now going forward. The program of Testaverde, and Kelly, and Irvin, and Portis, and on and on and on managed just 227 yards of total offense, turned it over three times, and got blanked by a Conference USA team.

I disagree with the writer that this was a fantastic Utah team. They had a well coached defense and an okay offense in a weak conference. They lost against a so-so USC team and lost big to the only good team on their schedule Oregon 37-15.

It was a good win for UT since we saw the benefit of getting rid our two coordinators and it can only help recruiting.
