4-star gunslinger and dual-threat quarterback Kai Locksley (Gilman School, Baltimore Maryland) is scheduled to take an official visit to the 40 Acres this weekend, but that didn't stop assistant head coach for offense/quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson from making a stop at the Locksley home to visit with Kai earlier Thursday afternoon.

HornSports had an opportunity to chat with the Florida State commit after the visit was over and according to Locksley, things "went well." Watson was in the Locksley home for "a good two to three hours" and sold the Under Armour All-American on the myriad advantages of playing football in Austin, but one thing in particular appeals to Locksley about the Longhorns.

"He [Watson] basically sold me on the fact that coming in I don't have anyone in front of me. He's at my house trying to get a starting quarterback and that's the thing as a team they need. They believe I have the ability to do that for them."

And his mom really liked Watson.

With the dire need for someone to take the reins of the offense on Saturdays, the eyes of Texas will be on Locksley this weekend, as he arrives in Austin for his official visit. Locksley told us earlier in January that he was still very firm to FSU and that nothing would change, until after his official visit to Austin.

What would it take for Locksley to reevaluate his current pledge to Florida State?

He told us the visit has to hit on five factors, one of which is the Texas playbook and scheme. He wouldn't divulge the other four, but Charlie Strong will have an opportunity to accentuate first-hand, the "opportunity" Shawn Watson detailed 1500 miles away from campus on this weekend.

So interesting to watch the quarterback recruiting, and try to extrapolate that to the staff's plans on offense in 2015.

The one thing I think is obvious and that is that Strong realizes that the offense they tried this past year, wont work.

In many ways, I think TCU beating the snot out of us with a great defense AND a wide open offense may end up being a great push for us.

Strong & Watson realize that with an improved and talented OL and different playcalls (QB reads instead of handoffs), that the offense Texas ran works.

TEXAS offense looks a good deal like tOSU's . .and last I checked, they did pretty well last year.

Thanks for helping address the false narrative about what actually happens on the field.

I wish now I had charted how many times that "horrid" TEXAS offense set up WRs to run free only to have the QB fail to get the football even close. . . . .
