Hey guys I didn't realize this before, but I just heard on the radio that Strong was the 7th highest paid college coach in the country at Louisville. I guess money wasn't the main motivator in him wanting this job.

How much better will he eat at Texas? It's not the money. The opportunity to be (really) in the hunt for a Natty is probably the driving force here. Especially after having felt he was passed over for so long. Talk about validation for your efforts.

Texas is one of 10 to 15 schools that are true destination jobs. Those are places you want to go and stay.

At Texas, you have the opportunity to compete for the best recruits, play in the biggest regular season games, win conference championships and now participate in a college playoff system and win National Championships

Here you get fame, fortune, the highest of highs and lowest of lows. This is a great job, and Coach Strong know that to be true.

And hey, he gets to live in Austin.

For the year ending Aug 31, 2013, Louisville's football team generated revenues of $28.1 mil (a year that included a BCS win, so the revenues were higher than average). Their basketball team's revenues were $42.4. At Texas, the football program alone generates more revenue than the entire Louisville athletic budget. Coach Strong is stepping into a program that operates at an entirely different level that what he has been involved with, even at Florida, Notre Dame, Miami or aggy. For a man driven to challenges, passing up Texas to stay at Louisville would have been unthinkable.
