Charles Omenihu in-home

[Aaron Carrara]

Spoke with Charles last night after his in-home visit with Charlie Strong and Chris Rumph and he couldn't be more ready to go.

One thing he was curious about prior to the visit was what the plans were for him position-wise.  It was reiterated to him last night, as expected,  that plans are to play him at the Fox.  Naashon Hughes has held the starting job at the position for the last handful of games but coaches are going to give Omenihu opportunity AND reps.

Charles said he is "100% comfortable" now that he knows what the plans are for him on the defense.

If he's not already a fan favorite, Texas fans are going to have fun watching and listening to Omenihu during his time in Austin.

I'm a little surprised CFS and staff have C.O. projected as the Fox.

He doesn't appear to have the quicks of Shiro or Naashon. He looked to me like a strongside DE in the Cedric Reed mold.

Watching Charles at the Nike Football Training Camp he seemed to have a great 'get-off' and was up to speed within one or two steps. He won a majority of his one on one's with speed and a decent swim move. He reacted very quickly to blockers while maintaining his speed off the ball. His main struggle will be the weight he'll have to gain to be able to be an every down player not just a Pass Rush end.

He's already big and strong but with his frame he could weigh 280lbs with out any 'bad weight' and with the possibility that Texas could be using more three down lineman looks he'll need to be big.

OK...what is the FOX...I can't be the only one wondering...can I?
