Real talk and I'm out for the day. Texas should have been able to beat byu and ole miss without coaches even around, just on talent alone. This isn't on coach brown or anyone on his staff. This is on a group of guys that doesn't know how to fight or respect the name on the front of the jersey and the guys that bled for it before them. There's a huge responsibility that comes with wearing that uniform. If you can't handle it, don't put it on. We are Texas, and if you don't want to fight for it then you shouldn't wear it. And I'm damn close to walking in the locker room and personally pulling it off some guys. This ain't a country club, it's a freaking war room. — with Cedric Golden and 98 others.

My response to the Post below that I was tagged in:

I DON'T like this. This is not a war room, it is nothing even remotely close to that. I doubt anyone that commented on this post has even the faintest hint of a clue as to what that really is. But I do. This is a football team, and I love and support UT Football and the men who play inside the white lines as much as anyone. It's true we lost a couple of football games and didn't play very well, believe me, we are all well aware of that. But no one on this team is quitting, we still have got a lot of fight left in us. If you want to quit on us than be our guest, we don't need you. We don't need anyone except each other. I welcome anyone who thinks we don't fight for Texas to come and try to pull that name off my chest or anyone else on this team. I'm the only current player who was tagged in this post, and I doubt any of the other guys would respond anyway because they are told to ignore stuff like this. But I'm the old guy on the team and really don't care about any repercussions. I don't care who you are and when you played, if you have lost faith and are giving up on these Longhorns then just go, we will play for one another...

Mock has been very vocal the last few days. This is just another sign of how fractured things are.

The duality of feelings - I am like UTK66 - I have both. What's a current player supposed to say though? What's a former player supposed to say? They are both right.

Boyer should take some of that fight and instill it in his team or STFU. Its really easy to argue online vs a former player, how about you shut the F@#K up and play winning football. Every single player on the team has earned the criticism that he has received. The players are not playing well and I agree with Chance, we have "superior" talent which should have at least kept the games close, but it did not. We got absolutely blasted by both teams. Completely outplayed from top to bottom beginning to end by teams that will be nothing but an afterthought of this season. There is no excuse for that.

Oh and Boyer taking the "war room" reference literally is a joke. Its a motivational reference used at literally every level. Get over it you clown. I expect more out of a guy with his background. He should have more ability to lead and fire up this team than just about any person on the staff, player or coach. My advice to him would be to take the criticism, you earned the shit out of it. Last week you had a chance to stand up and fight like men with pride, well that didnt happen and you laid down and got f##ked like a gang of school girls for the second straight week. I detest what the current coaching staff is doing but the players are not playing like elite players. Its pathetic from top to bottom and everybody involved needs to take responsibility for their exceedingly exceptional ability to suck complete ass!

How dare you.

Unless you know Nate personally -- or any player on the team -- don't question their character or their "fight". It's easy to call out players online behind the safety of a username, but would you ever walk up to Nate or current player and same the same thing to their face? I highly doubt it.

The team hasn't given up, despite what you may personally believe. However, if you've given up on them, then by all means, go. As Nate said, they don't need you or anyone else -- all they need is each other. They're playing for the man on their right and the man on their left. I'm embarrassed by the behavior of our "fans". Losing doesn't build character, it reveals it. How is yours being revealed?

I will stand by this team -- and by what Nate said -- regardless of any outcome. I know his character and I know the character of the team. They are not quitters. They don't give up when things get rough. And they sure as hell are PROUD to wear Texas across their chest.

"How dare I?" Matter of fact I do not know Boyer personally, however, we do have some mutual friends. Another matter of fact, yes, I would repeat literally every single thing I said to any one person on the team or staff. Not all persons on the internet are cowardly kids using the net as a shield, so try again. The character of the team is on display on a weekly basis. Watching this team for the last 2 years has 100% broadcasted their character. If you cant draw the conclusion that they underperform, lack intensity, and are failing to progress you are just choosing not to see what is right in front of you.

The team hasnt given up? So what exactly would you call what is happening? It would actually be better if they have given up, at least that way there would be a reason for the terrible play. But if this is them not giving up then god help us all if they do give up. Nobody has given up on this team so get your panties unbunched. Lemme know if freedom of speech has been rescinded without my knowing. If that is not the case then every loyal fan has every right to voice their frustrations with one of the absolute greatest programs in college football history greatly underperforming. The fans that have given up dont care and dont speak on the matter. The ones who do show emotion to care and want to see these kids and the program succeed. Ok so what is all of this losing revealing about the character of this team? They have been doing quite a bit of losing so please tell me what the character they are showing is. They should probably start playing harder for the man on their right and left. I support the team and the program but if you think that the fans should just settle for the subpar coaching and play that has been going on recently you are out of your mind. As soon as we stop demanding more from our players and coaches and accept mediocrity we might as well change our name to Texas Tech.

Whoa Dude..Telling Nate Boyer to STFU..Not in any way cool and being a big Nate fan...see my profile picture...I suggest you look Nate up and tell him to shut the F@#K up....Then get back with me and tell me how it worked?

and... as far as Nate not liking the war reference, he has earned the right. While we were here running out heads and living our lives, Nate was in Afghanastan, a real shooting war. It's a free country, and you and I have the right to say what we want, I just wish we would limit it to on the field issues. Insulting a true Longhorn hero, I say again, not the right thing to do.

Lastly, it's not about freedom of speech, it's about taking it to a personal level to at Longhorn player. No one here has told you to STFU, but I guess freedom of speech only goes in one direction?

First of all I dont think I implied that freedom of speech only goes one way and was sole property of myself... Secondly you're right, I stand behind my point however my means of delivery was unneeded. . It has less to do with him as a person and more to do with players and coaches weekly and annually saying the same things. Playing poorly and then repeating the same ideals... "We arent quitting, we still believe in ourselves." Then telling those who are unhappy with the team to go packing if you dont like what you see. It gets just as old as hearing Mack say it. To watch young men and the old men coaching them say the same things every week and then show zero progress is more than frustrating and I am guilty of the same thing I believe most of us are and that is getting too emotionally involved.

I respect what he is and what he does... At the risk of sounding like some un-American asshole and only to underline the fact that is the furthest from what I am, I am writing this and the original post from nowhere other than Afghanistan. I know where he's coming from, got it. I was a fan of him from the time a mutual friend of ours messaged me and told me that a Grouper was now on the team. So again, as personal as what I said sounded, it didnt have the intent that was received.

Again, you are also correct, I/we should keep the conversations to on field issues. Lastly I fully intend to rope in my buddy and Nate in when I get back to TX for a beer and rest assured Ill have this same conversation with him. I appreciate your approach to correcting me, we all get a bit more aggressive than called for at times.

Im not a Sarah Smith mark by any means, but it was out of line to say that toward the guy. You are 100% entitled to your opinion, and we have the duty to provide the forum to do it, but don't forget Mr. Boyer and his mates spilled blood to protect your right to say it.

I believe I have corrected myself... With the help of Beevomav.

These are stressful times and being the laughing stock of football is taking it's toll. We are all prone to say over the top things. I sure have pushed the limit with my criticism of our quarterbacks.

I think it should all be aimed at Mack. It is his team and the buck stops with him. He can fire assistant coaches, try and blame the LHN, and even try to convince us that our eyes deceived us...but...this discourse between Longhorns has been caused by Mack. It will change when he is gone.

Damn.... The joys and sorrows of being Texas fans.... I LOVE IT!

I agree... I also agree that it is taking a toll. I was 100% confident all week long that our players would rise to the occasion due to their ability and character. I had many a heated conversation with my own teammates. Didn't help at all that one of them is a diehard Ole Miss fan. Then to see them get crushed again was very tough. I believed completely that the team would band together and force a win no matter what.

The responsibility does land on Macks shoulders and ultimately he is who I am more pissed off with. I have been pointed with my feelings about the QB position and I do have to keep in mind that Mack is the person that brought in to inept QB for some ungodly reason and passed on several other program making QBs. Its not Ash or Cases fault that they suck, they just do. I think we have a great group of kids and I only want to see them have success. I dont agree with all of them having been recruited or brought on but all of them have been a good face for the program.

The fact we are even having this discussion does in fact show the shit show we like to call Texas football.

I don't know how Chance Mock got that idea after watching Greg Davis and Mack Brown screw up easy games year after year.

The results speak for themselves. You don't call them "talents" after that kind of losses. Good Coaches matter! Proof: Nick Saban, Les Miles, Steve Spurrier, Urban Meyer ...
