Cedar Hill Vs. McKinney Boyd

I was wrapped up in a conversation with Coppell coaches in the booth about UT commit Connor Williams and Boyd scored on a deep pass.  Cedar Hill comes back and scores on a 70 yard screen pass to tie it at 7.

Well, what did the Coppell coaches have to say?

The Coppell Coaches said that Connor is an outstanding kid who was being recruited by Michigan and Oregon to play tight end but he always wanted to be a Longhorn.  They said even if he's a backup early you could put him in on jumbo sets at tight end where he's a weapon in both the pass and run game.  HE plays both ways and is the unquestioned leader in the locker room.

DaMarkus Lodge scored on a 21 yard touchdown pass to make it 13-7.  Lodge is an incredibly smooth player with easy acceleration and is a great hands catcher.

USC commit Aca'Cedric Ware runs it in from 30 yards out to push the lead to 19-7.  Cedar hill having trouble on extra points.  Ware is a good looking player.

In other news The Colony upset Poteet 27-24 so Malik Jefferson will be available for an official visit.

Cedar Hill's Aca'Cedric Ware scores on a 42 yard touchdown run to give Cedar Hill a 26-14 lead.  Ware is a good looking player committed to USC.

The energy in this building has disappeared since the first game.  Exciting game with big plays and the crowd is hardly reacting.

We go to the half with Cedar Hill up 29-14.

More things learned from talking to Coppell coaches:  Nick Jordan who had some hip issues has been kicking strong lately and though he is redshirting this year Charlie has talked to him about burning his shirt if the kicking continues to struggle in the last two games once Jordan is cleared (which could be any day now).  They said Jordan is anxious to play and has grown restless but the Coppell coaches encouraged him to stay the course and get his masters as long as the education is being paid for.

Denvre Daniels the best name in football carries it in from 29 yards out to give Cedar Hill a 36-14 lead.  It is extremely quiet in this building.  No energy following the first game.

We lost internet in the pressbox so there was a lot of radio silence in the second half.  Cedar Hill wins a fairly uneventful game 50-28 game.

Post game thoughts: Aka'cedric Ware for Cedar hill is a bad man.  The USC bound commit isn't blazing fast but runs with great balance and good patient feet.  He has some shake and some power to his game.  He's an incredibly versatile guy who can be a threat in the pass game as well.  He might be the most complete back in the state.  Ware had 196 yards rushing on 20 carries for two touchdowns.  Quiet game for Damarkus Lodge who had 47 yards receiving and a touchdown.  Impressive prospect but Cedar Hill has tons of weapons and doesn't make it a priority to get the ball to him.

Trinity v Plano West up next.
