Burton Saying...

The fact that 247 isn't spamming that all over the place and saying they broke the news makes it pretty obvious he isn't the sole OC.
They probably don't want to tell people that Watson will call the plays. Lol

Apparently we have to pay $600,000 if Wickline is co OC. If he is the sole OC we avoid the buyout. Doesn't mean Wickline will call plays. Sounds like Watson will handle that (unless Watson is QB only) and they let WR coach call plays.

Seamless it appears.

I don't know why people are assuming Watson would be the other side of things, if this report is even true. Burton has been wrong many times before.

If this is the case I could see use running more of a OSU type scheme. Wickline knows it as well as anybody. I would look for the wr hire to be the play caller. The ones Burton mentioned all have play calling experience.

What do you all think.....

Its obvious that there have been a whole lot misinformation and misdirection. Different insiders given different information is it possible that all this is happening so that new regime knows who to trust? It would make sense because I read that Patterson went through something like this in Portland?

I'm beginning to think Strong and Patterson are tolling the hell out of the message board sites

I seriously hope so. Otherwise this offensive coaching staff is a dog's breakfast.

I think it's more like all of the paysites are grasping at thin air to keep the subscriptions flowing in (or more like not flowing out) during a transitionary period in the program which they know is their primetime to pull in subs.

From reading the reports from yesterday and today there just still seem to be a lot of moving parts with the offensive side of the ball.

-Yesterday was said that Chambers was introduced to the team without a specific role or title. That would lead me to believe he isn't going to be part of the on-field staff and will move into a different role within the program.

-It has been reported that Watson has yet to "firm up his position" on Strong's staff. So he isn't officially part of the staff. From my view it looks like he is either looking at other jobs or waiting on other jobs before officially accepting the QB coaching job.

-Was reported that Wyatt will not be retained/was leaving.

Taking these 3 factors into consideration that would leave 2-3 spots open. Lets assume Watson does end up taking the QB job. That still leaves the WR and TE position open. This report says that Koenning, Phillips and Groh are the leading candidates for the WR spot. However that would leave the TE spot still open.

Definitely thinking we could be looking at another out of nowhere hire tomorrow.

Two different paysites with two entirely different rumors at the exact same time...Patterson gone mole-hunting? sbn.to/19r4M1a

So Higdon was trollin'
Why would a guy who is known to have an in with Charlie strong and broken some staff hires already who works for fox sports covering recruiting and doesn't even cover Texas (Florida I believe ) have the need to troll ?

If Wickline were going to be the OC it would have been announced to the players IMO.

Burton said the other day Watson would be the OC. They don't know jack at this point

If the joker talk is true for OC I think higdon may consider that a big move but I still think it's someone no one is talking about. I was told " don't assume anything"

Calling plays is not some sort of mystical activity that only a skill position coach can do. Applewhite was a QB who inspired a Cult, and he sucked at calling plays. There is no reason why Wickline could not be a good play caller merely because he is an OL coach.

Come on, folks. The stress of waiting is getting to you.

Burton had been all over the map on the staff. Him and Chip did good on Strong, but since then they have been about as accurate as most of us, non-insiders.

I don't have an issue with Wickline being the OC I just don't buy it yet. For one UT needs more offensive staff and i think if Wickline was the play caller and no other OC was in play i think that would have been told to the team on Sunday.

You also have even some canidates people have mentioned hearing UT was looking at a few other people. Still feels like outside hire
