Burnt Ends (2-16)

The problem with UT basketball is that we don't play the AAU game.  NC, Duke, Kentucky, Gonzaga and a few others do.

I didn't mean to insult your list, I should have said most of the recruiting agencies. Rivals and 24/7 has Duvernay over Dickson, while Scout has Dickson as the #3 WR in the nation and Duvernay #4. Since Duvernay and Dickson seem to have similar talent, I go with the guy who has video game numbers. When I first saw Dickson had 39 TDs on 89 catches and over 2100 yards, I thought it was a misprint. That's what I call Production.

Rivals has Dickson as a 3 star recruit, which I fine funny. Rivals had Breckyn Hager as a 2 star recruit this year which made it look like Hager was a legacy recruit. However, after NSD Brian Jean-Mary named Hager as his most underrated recruit. Charlie Strong said that every 2015 recruit we signed has the ability to be a starting player at Texas. CS also said that Hager was going to be huge.
No insult taken. I love the discussion. Thea rankings will change a lot but I think Dickson could be a top 4 guy at the end of things. I may be his biggest fan.

Maybe if he scores 40 TDs next year. After all a player should improve from his junior to his senior year. :)

It's more of a case of having other guys ahead. He's a top 10 guy and the top receiver in the state, certainly no insult to him. I'd like to see him up close.

playing devil's advocate a bit...

how much closer to campus than MLK and Red River would it have to be? isn't that virtually out the back door from the biggest dorm in the world (or whatever Jester is).

here's a little factoid i found once before when this subject came up. following our first final four in 50+ years and with a preseason top-10 team returning, we drew a little over 6K to our season opener the following year. fans weren't exactly camping out Duke-style.

sure, a new coach and new arena would create short term buzz. hey, when the drum was new and abe lemons was new and fresh there was buzz. for a while. we've just never sustained it.
I'm the huckleberry to your devil's advocate. My post was just scatter shooting...

Yes, I realize a facility the size of the drum is not likely to ever get back on the main campus.  It is a couple of blocks from Jester and the south side of campus and that is probably as close as that type facility will get to campus anytime soon.

Disch-Falk is across the freeway and being there has not hurt attendance even though it is a different sport with a much smaller seating capacity. A new BB arena probably would not make a significant difference regardless of the location at UT Austin.  I agree a new coach or Bellmont marketing would be short term buzz only.

Unfortunately, as someone else stated re: BB at UT.

We are not Duke, UK, KU or UNC or even anything even close to those type programs.

We are who we are.
